This was the least expensive hotel I could find that had vacancies. I was so surprised with how clean it was how friendly the staff was and when I came back to my room, the next day I had had made service. I was not expecting that I would stay here again. It’s very basic but has a great indoor pool and sauna that I didn’t get to use. I was able to put all my food in the refrigerator and pack my lunches. I recommend this hotel if you’re not looking for luxury, but want something inexpensive and clean.

Best Bang for the Buck

The gentleman that checked me in was very pleasant and accommodated my service dog. Not the newest place in town but very clean and I felt safe as a female solo traveler staying there. Great location and for the $ it is well worth it. Have a beautiful indoor pool but only open 3-10 so if you have kiddos that may be a negative. For me it was a perfect place along my travels.

Needs Updating

The Great Western is a dated motel that is in a good location on Rt. 50 in Salida. The room was clean, but the decor needed to be updated. The space was ample for two people, but the soundproofing between rooms was poor. The staff was friendly, but this did not offset the dated and somewhat rundown condition of the property.

Cute and quiet and cozy place, felt like a little like staying in a family members cabin. Cable had lots of good tv channel options, bathroom shower head was great in my opinion, perfect water pressure and temp, and there was an awesome Mexican restaurant right across the street.
