Iâve never given a poor review of any property, however this experience was not a good one. The location was not great or safe and the response of the owners and company to an incident that occurred on their property was disappointing.Booked for Thursday-Sunday so we could go skiing at Monarch. Woke up Saturday morning to head to the slopes and our gas tank of our truck was empty. Someone had drilled a hole in the gas tank, taken what gas they could, and the rest ran down the driveway and into the street. The only response by the rental company was a referral to 2 closed mechanics on a Saturday and an owner who stated they didnât see anyone on the cameras. The camera catches the front street, not where the driveway can clearly been accessed from the back. This was clearly done by an individual while we were parked in the designated parking spot, and the remainder of the gas could be seen going out into the road. A hole was drilled in the tank so we couldnât just fill it up again, and needed it fixed. My boyfriend is handy made something temporary enough to get us back to the Springs without towing like the Chevy dealership in town suggested. We missed that morning skiing and went back a day early to get this dealt with. I informed the host we would be leaving around 2 on Saturday instead of the originally planned and paid for Sunday and received absolutely no response. So I paid for a night we didnât stay, missed 2 days of ski passes paid for, and didnât get even a response
Just the perfect size for two. Tucked away just enough to be private but Salida is easilu accessible for whatever you need. The cabin's kitchen is fully stocked, by far the best we've seen. Most of all, the bed is
Booked this property for a quick weekend away from the city and wasnât disappointed. We were able to see the autumn colors, experience the first snow of the year and enjoy some hikes and walks in the area.
The cabin was cozy and a perfect size for 2 people. We didnât cook but there is ample space in the kitchen if someone wanted to. The stairs were a bit steep but there is a light switch next to the bedroom that provides a small light for you to see enough to navigate them without issue.
I had thought the cabin overlooked a stream however that is across the street and not something we were able to really see, although we could hear it and did enjoy that.
The drive to either Monarch Pass (5 minutes) or to Poncha Springs or Salida goes quick. Salida definitely has more options for food so would suggest driving the extra 5 minutes from Poncha Springs.
There are several trailheads nearby so can see ourselves going back to take advantage of those in the future.
The cabin itself is nice, has everything you might need. Sleeping, however, was a challenge. The road is so close to the property and because it was warm in the bedroom that is upstairs, we had to open the window and the traffic was so loud.
This little cabin is so cute! We had a great stay. Please note they are SERIOUS about having parking for only one car. There's really nowhere close to park a second vehicle. The kitchen in this little cabin is equipped with sharp knives and all the necessities to cook with. The neighbor, Robert, who lives there full time was very nice/welcoming and told us about a few spots in town for live music. I would stay here again.
property was clean ... impressive... didnt realize bathroom was on ground floor... bedroom on second.... lot of stairs for seniors to climb up and down.... thank you.
We had a great stay! We were not far from some trails to hike and enjoyed a couple dog parks and downtown wandering in nearby towns. Host communicated well.
If you want to be in the mountains, this is the place. Cute hideaway for me and hubby, we had everything we needed and the host responded quickly when we had a question. I only gave the check in process 3 stars because it has a digital or smart lock, we were not familiar with how to use it and it took some time to get in. I would definitely come back though! Beautiful mountain scenery.
Nicely decorated and updated. Cannot possibly get any more than 3 people to stay there, not that it was ever communicated that you could. Even the living space cannot accompany more than 3 people - fairly tight quarters but very well done!
We loved this cabin! It was clean and tidy and had pretty much all we needed to cook with. We made tasty meals on the grill outside and enjoyed relaxing with beautiful views on the private deck. The bed was very comfy, and we enjoyed relaxing on the couch. We didnt need anything during our stay, but the property management company reached out when we checked in to give us a quick way to reach out for anything. It did get a little warm during the day without AC, and it would be handy to have a dumpster closer to the cabin. Other than that, we loved our stay and would stay again!
This was the perfect spot for my boyfriend and I to escape the Oklahoma heat. The house is a great size for a couple and it was so clean and beautifully decorated. It had the most homey feeling which we loved! You are also near so many great spots to explore! The hosts were great at reaching out and making sure all our needs were met. We would highly recommend Rocky Top Cabin A.
Everything was good except there was road noise from Monarch pass - the road is very close to the back of the cabin. Bring ear plugs but otherwise very nice.
The location was nice, sat in nature like that, but if I'd known about the outside AND inside stairs I would have passed. Nobody talked to us throughout our visit, which was nice, but when we called about some amenities, they said they'd call us back and never did, plus she didn't sound happy to talk to us at all. The place was clean, mostly bug free and pretty, but those stairs hurt us pretty badly, as we are both disabled. The outside stairs and parking posed a bit of a problem as well, and we could not find a light for the outside. All in all, it was nice (just nice) but if I'd known everything about the property I would have passed on it. Also the rules we received made it sound like the owner of the property doesn't want visitors, and we spent most of our vacation cleaning. I wish we'd just found a hotel instead, honestly.
