Great place to stay. River is only a short walk from mercantile. Loved looking through the mecantile and experiencing the history of the Caddo Gap area. We will definitely be back!
Mr. & Mrs. McWilliams were wonderful hosts. Their communication was above and beyond. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them and felt they they were old friends. The location was quaint and quiet. It was a peaceful stay in this beautiful park of Arkansas. Hope to return some day.
Our stay at Gap Mercantile was amazing. The unique experience of staying in what was once part of a general store was like going back in time, but of course it had all the modern amenities. The owners were absolutely wonderful. They were helpful throughout the stay, and we ended up spending a couple of hours talking to them and hanging out in the store because they were just great people. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area!
My two boys (12 and 10) and I loved the cottage. They enjoyed exploring all of the decor and books and played some music on the piano as well which gave a nice atmosphere! It is a quiet place after the sun goes down and we enjoyed a family movie. The next morning the boys had fun playing checkers on the front porch of the store while we had breakfast and waited to take a farm tour. Perhaps the best part of the cottage are Lynna and Gary - you couldnât ask for friendlier people to welcome you and talk to during your stay! Highly recommend a stay at the cottage and visit to the store if you are in the area.
Great location for hiking, kayaking! Gary was super nice and very knowledgeable, a great resource! Check-in and out was a breeze. Definitely would stay again!
We enjoyed our stay at Caddo Gap Mercantile. We were unable to meet Ms. Lynna but met Mr. Gary and enjoyed talking with him. The location was perfect for us!
Property was clean and comfortable and fit our purpose of being close (only 30 minutes away) to Camp Ozark early in the morning to pick up our grand son on check out day.
Would be a nice place for a few very quite days in the mountains.
The only problem we had was the heat ..... with an outside temperature of 100 plus the 3 small window A/C units in the cottage while they worked very hard were not able to keep the rooms comfortable. Especially the bathroom which was located where non of the cool air could get in........ A fan would have made a big difference......
Adding a couple more units and having some fans would have helped. On a more moderate day with lower outside temps it probably would have been more comfortable ........
The Mercantile Store up front was a real hoot !!!!! We found several thing we couldn't do without ......
The vintage touches make this property a unique find. The village is perfect for a morning stroll. The mercantile feels like stepping back in time. The owners are wonderful and local.
Lynna, the owner, was very nice. The cottage was very comfortable. Very clean. The history of the store was very interesting. It was a very positive experience. Highly recommend
staying here!!
