The property was more modest and less grand than I expected, although the service was genuine and welcoming. Very good Covid measures in place, although guests should note there are only two sittings for dinner - 6pm and 8pm. The breakfast is also staggered and guests must pre-order. However, Covid measures don't detract from the stay if you're a little organised. The room was clean, well appointed although had a couple of maintenance issues. The rooms were just about warm enough - but only just. The breakfast, in particular the vegetarian breakfast and avocado on toast were disappointing. The vegetarian breakfast was nice, but not very filling, whilst the cooked breakfast was reasonable. The avocado was hard and not ripe.

Nice grounds and interesting history to the stately home. Stayed in Princess Margaret suite, large room, huge bathroom. Room could have been cleaner though. Poor mattress with no support. A shame there is no food service in the afternoon, but there is an honesty bar and nibbles available in the front room. Breakfast was ok, but disappointingly small continental selection. Didn't try the restaurant in the evening but looked very cosy and interesting gastronomic menu.

Beautiful country house in gorgeous countryside. The staff were attentive and the dinner excellent. I would definitely go back again.
