The Casal São João Cottages is a typical Madeiran stone house located in the west of the Madeira Island in Fajã da Ovelha - Calheta, about 58 km from the airport of Santa Cruz and 42 km from the city of Funchal. This construction is dated from the year of 1930 and composed by 6 independent apartments. The apartment 105 is equipped with kitchenette with table for 2 persons, 1 double bedroom and bathroom. It's available in the shared social area one jacuzzi with natural water, gym, solarium, barbecue. In a perfect and quiet place with excellent exposure across the sea ideal for yoga, bird watching and astronomy.

It’s recommended to use car so you can explore the various attractions, not only in the locality as well as other area attractions. Nature turism and hiking ("Levadas") are one of the strengths of this region and Fajã da Ovelha is part of many hiking routes. Less than 2 km you will find mini-market or restaurant. The nearest beach is in Paul do Mar, about 8 km away. Appartment was small and location is very good. A smell from drain was disgusting. The bath from pistures was in the common room, which was not written down in the ad. The bath wasn´t woorking. The common room was fuul of dust. We don´t recommend Faja da Ovelha

En réservant cet appartement on s'attendait à trouver un petit appartement certe mais il se trouve qui est très humide (serviette qui ne sèche pas, papier toilette mouillé, les gouttes ruissellent sur les vitres au levé. Nous avons dut nettoyer la douche en arrivant (cheveux dans l'évacuation) et acheter du déboucher car l'eau ne s'evacuait pas

worst host experience of my life

The place actually is quite nice. The view is pretty, the location calm. Unfortunately our check-in was delayed almost 3h and the host didnt reply to calls for 30mins. He said the room has to be cleaned but when we got inside we noticed it wasn‘t clean at all. Warm Water and the shower were not working at all and the Wi-Fi was installed a few days after we checked in. Moreover the displayed Jacuzzi has been shot down due to the pandemic, which is totally fine but wasn‘t communicated at all. All in all the place could be beautiful but the host is a difficult person.

Beengte, einfache Unterkünfte in ruhiger Lage mit schönem Garten-/ Außenbereich und Blick aufs Meer

Die kleinen Einheiten der verschiedenen Unterkünfte sind nicht sonderlich komfortabel, einfach und basal ausgestattet. Im Gemeinschaftsbereich stehen u. a. ein Whirlpool mit Meerblick und ein PC mit Internetanschluss zur Verfügung - alles aber schon in die Jahre gekommen. Der Swimmingpool auf der Terrasse war nicht gepflegt und nicht nutzbar (Monat Mai). Dort haben es sich aber die Frösche lautstark gut gehen lassen. Die Lage der kleinen Anlage am Steilhang ist etwas abgelegen, sehr ruhig und bietet einen besonders schönen Blick auf das nicht sehr ferne Meer. Der Garten bzw. Außenbereich ist insgesamt schön, hat aber auch mehr Pflege nötig. Die Unterkunft liegt versteckt unterhalb der Straße und ist alleine anhand der Adresse schwierig zu finden, da weder ein Hinweis noch die Hausnummer an der Straße angebracht sind. Mit den vom Vermieter zur Verfügung gestellten GPS-Koordinaten sollte es am besten gelingen, das Ziel zu finden. Bei der Zuteilung bzw. uns angebotenen Auswahl der Wohneinheit gab es leider irritierende Widersprüche hinsichtlich der Kosten. Plötzlich sollte die u. a. angebotene und von uns ausgewählte Wohneinheit mehr kosten, als zuvor bei der Buchung vereinbart.

Sehr ruhig, einfach und erholsam, sofern...

Die Lage ist sehr ruhig inmitten eines großen Gartens. In der Natur hört man nur Tiere, im Wind die Palmen, doch bei direkten Nachbarn jeden Schritt und jedes Wort! Die Ausstattung ist sehr einfach. Fenster, Türen und Wände lassen Wind, Ameisen usw. durch. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. WIR hatten heißes Wasser!!! Der Jacuzzi wird über Solar geheizt - oder eben nicht. Tischtennis, Trainingsstation und PC/WLAN sorgen für Abwechslung. Maria (die Nachbarin) ist das Herz und Joao der Motor, der bei Wünschen oder Beschwerden sofort aktiv wird. Wir haben uns gut erholt und die Ruhe genossen, weil wir in 3 Wochen nur 3 Nächte direkte Nachbarn hatten. Bei Buchung unbedingt beachten!!!
