The garden at that place is fabulous. Thatâs it. The room I was in had not been renovated since many many years, old carpet, smelly room, very poor thermal shower insulation, bathroom was a joke with detached linoleum. Thankfully that was still clean (bath & toilet & bed - the cleaning staff is doing a good job). Body soap was awful, thankfully the hand soap was ok. It should be better advertised as dorm room / hostel and not as a hotel.
Madingley Hall really is beautiful and the grounds are incredible. It is the most wonderful place to explore and we spent a lot longer than we thought we would wandering the grounds and the house.
The history of the house and gardens is of course fascinating and there is an abundance of information available on both.
The staff are extremely friendly and work hard to make your stay a memorable one. They are also very knowledgeable about the history of Madingley and happy to answer questions.
Breakfast was great although I'd prefer non filter coffee but that's not really an issue. The food was plentiful, good quality and hot!
We'll definitely be back. We have more exploring to do and would love to see the gardens through the seasons.
Never stayed in such a lovely old building full of character. Park and ride 5 minutes by car ÂŁ3.50 return into cambridge. Three horseshoes pub 5 minute walk away. 8 of us over 60 stayed and we all loved it. Thank you.
Beautiful grounds and great breakfast provided. Staff were very professional and helpful. Room was basic but clean with everything you would need. Perfect place to stay if you're driving near Cambridge
The hotel is located inside an absolutely gorgeous building that is also used as the continuing education classrooms of Cambridge. The main hall is also used as an event venue that is frequented by other colleges of Cambridge. There are multiple gardens outside of establishment that are very large and made a morning or evening stroll quite lovely.
The bedroom area in comparison is much more modest, as the rooms and hallways of this area was very much Bauhaus inspired - simple, clean, and comfortable.
