Extremely Disappointing Stay – No Water, No Warning, No Solutions I would not recommend this hotel based on our recent experience. When we returned from dinner the night before our flight, we were unexpectedly told we had to be moved to another room due to a scheduled city water maintenance. We were transferred to a lower-category room that was supposedly going to have running water, yet we were never informed of any of this at check-in. Had we known, we would have absolutely chosen to stay elsewhere. The next morning, we woke up to no running water at all—no shower, no sink, not even water to use the toilet. This was extremely stressful given that we were only there for one night and had an early flight to catch. To make matters worse, the “alternative” room we were moved to did not have water either. We eventually had to shower somewhere else just to make our flight. At no point did the hotel offer a proper solution, compensation, or even a refund for the difference in room categories. For a situation this disruptive, the hotel’s response was completely inadequate. Basic necessities like water should never be treated lightly, and guests deserve transparency so they can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, this property failed on all fronts. I will not be returning.

The staff were great and the facility is really good. The pool has algae that needs to be dealt with. The breakfast was exceptional and the staff very attentive. My only beef was that we arrived early and let them know we had a 3:30AM flight departure and wondered if we could have the breakfast on our arrival day in lieu of not having the breakfast on a departure day. We really were not asking for anything extra..... Not even a consideration on their part- I got a flat out NO. Not 5 star customer relations in my view....

I have stayed many times over the years in the Cartagena area. This hotel is my fav in the old town for two main reasons. On this trip four nights. The rooftop is the best in the old town. Spacious with sweeping views of the old town, the wall and the ocean, and Bocagrande. The rooftop pool is nice with plenty of seating — unlike most of the other hotels in the old town. The restaurant is Harry Sassoon, which is the Cartagena branch of one of the most famous restaurants in Bogota. The food is excellent. The service is generally good. I’ll definitely be back.

From the moment I arrived, the experience was flawless. The staff were warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and offered every comfort I could need. I especially loved the attention to detail—from the quality of the linens to the thoughtful amenities. Charleston Santa Teresa Hotel has all the positives expected of a 5 star hotel: impeccable residence, superb food and restaurant, amazing architecture both internal and out - - - - - What I appreciate MOST about Charleston Santa Teresa is the pleasures of a 5 star resort without ANY of the pretentiousness or snobbery which is usually associated with luxury. I would highlight the staff of the hotel most of all as being friendly, involved, respectful, understanding, polite, and appropriate. - - - I am a traveler who presents as an adult aged woman of color, I felt welcomed in the Santa Teresa. There was zero being questioned about my stay. There was no being treated as if I were expected or encouraged to leave. No one, not fellow guests nor staff, questioned me nor made me feel unwelcome. My stay was divine. I will stay here the next time I travel to this area. I will recommend the Santa Teresa to anyone and I strongly encourage you to stay there.
