The rooms are wonderfully done with a recent remodel. The place has been decorated beautifully. The bathrooms are clean and bright. The beds are comfortable. The communication was seamless. The only issue with the place is that like most 135 year old structures, there is limited sound proofing. You can hear every step made upstairs. You hear your next door neighbor coughing. You can hear the louder cars drive by on the street. Earplugs would solve the issue or if you are a sound sleeper. I am not, so struggled a bit. Otherwise itâs a five star review for sure.
We loved our stay at Eclipse! The property is clean spacious and quite inviting. The location is safe and close to King Street which is lined with shops, restaurants & bars. Excellent if you want to walk anywhere OR grab an uber. The whole group enjoyed this wonderful experience! Thank you!
The only issue we had was to sound from the other units. The tv is one unit was the same wall as the head of my bed. In addition, we could hear most of the conversations from the upstairs unit. It wasnât that the people were being particularly loud, but there isnât much insulation between the units.
This unit is exactly as listed and fit our needs perfectly. Nicely decorated, very comfortable and an easy walk to King Street. The communication with the owner was excellent and they were always attentive. We would definitely stay here again.
This property is extremely adorable. So well, remodeled and space used so wisely. We enjoyed the location, although it was a 1.3 mile walk to the Market, we just spent time enjoying stores all the way there. The exterior noises were drowned out well with the sound machines in the room. Kitchen had ample cookware for cooking our breakfast. Beds were on the firm side but very comfortable. The second bedroom lacks clothing storage space and anywhere in the bathroom to put toiletry items. I gave a basket that was in the large bedroom and bathroom to my friend so she would have someone to out some items. The house does have a slight mildew smell and we all had to wash even our unworn clothing items when we got home because they were holding the smell. Overall, we would consider staying here again without hesitation.
Traveled with friends for a 50th birthday - our first time to Charleston. What a delightful city and wonderful property. David was the ultimate host! So gracious and helpful, and put up with all of my questions in real-time. The property is wakable to just about everything from King Street and French Quarter. Property as described and a charming stay. Book here - you won't regret it!
This unit is well located, didnât really even need a car. It is well appointed from furniture to appliances to decor. The bathrooms are small as other reviewers have stated, bathroom vanities are barely large enough to occupy more than a toothbrush. The mirror in the master is SMALL due to the nature of the bathroom, maybe 8â wide. But otherwise very beautifully and tastefully done, preserving the historic elements while making it modern.
However, the reason for 3 starts is b/c the AC unit in the master was not working properly the ENTIRETY of our stay. The first night it made a LOUD buzzing noise, so we turned it off but the noise remained. Even earplugs didnât help. It was HOT & we got NO sleep. The PM sent someone the next morning to fix that as well as a water pressure issue and said it was repaired.
The 2nd night the unit made an occasional noise but it was nothing compared to the night before and we were able to get some sleep. The 3rd night the noise started back up (still not as loud as the first night but definitely louder than earplugs could handle). The PM told me I should have let them know it wasnât fixed the night before, which was aggravating. Maybe so but when they told me it was fixed I took their word for it and also didnât want to be âthat renterâ. That said, of the 4 nights we spent there 2 were fairly sleepless with 2 being okay sleep. For the price we paid I was disappointed in the overall experience.
Property was nicely decorated. Bathroom were small, not alot of room for tolietries. Quiet & peaceful location. Parking a large car or SUV is tricky. Overall accommodations met our expectations. Great value for your buck.
There are different units in the house. Keep in mind, college students in the area, so night time noise you may hear them.
Easy to walk to King St and beyond.
Well appointed kitchen, comfortable furnishings. I gave 5 stars for communication, but never had to.
The property was clean and well appointed. Comfortable beds and well stocked amenities were a blessing after walking the downtown area. Parking is convenient, but tight for larger vehicles. We had no issues with parking an Escalade. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
This was a great place to stay - a very clean and tidy home with no surprises, as was described in the listing. Communication with the manager was great and fast when the heating/AC unit needed to be looked at, someone was at the home in 20 minutes. The only reason it has 4 stars instead of 5 is because we were awoken every night multiple times by people in the upstairs apartments/home. We could hear them, their footsteps, and other activities clearly. We could also hear people on the sidewalk very distinctly and woke us often. Still, we do recommend it for location, size, and cleanliness. Thank you!
This house is in a terrific location. The interior is beautiful and the beds are comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back. Was great in both form and function.
Awesome stay! Our family spent 4-5 nights here and were able to walk almost everywhere. Private (albeit snug) parking was an added bonus! Laundry was convenient and the interior of place was amazing! Thank you!
The property is as shown in the photos. Our experience proved the Eclipse 2 bdrm/2 bath to be VERY CLEAN, beds were comfortable, noise level was very low, AC worked like a dream and we used the kitchen each morning to cook breakfast and we were happy to find a small bottle of olive oil for our use which was nice because we forgot to bring/buy butter. We had more than enough dishes and silverware - we even used pots, pans and a couple leftover containers with lids. We would stay here again if we return to Charleston.
Parking in the back of the unit worked well for us, we had a Honda Accord parked back there all week and we lucked out being the only guests in the house to have a car onsite. While it is a tight squeeze, my Pilot also EASILY fit in the back lot as well we did not try parking both cars in the back lot at the same time.
Little bits they don't tell you: there is an inflatable mattress for your use in the closet of the master bdrm, deck of cards on the mantle to borrow (which we did), smart tv's in each room allowed all of us to enjoy the shows we were binging on vacay and under the kitchen sink you will find dishwasher pods, dishwashing soap and washing machine pods! I brought all this with me and was pleasantly surprised to find all of this provided to us! We used the washer/dryer that is provided upstairs and we even shared it with another couple staying in the upstairs unit. It's a nice option to have use of washer/dryer.
Mngmt team is on the ball responding to our Q's/needs within hours.
This well-maintained property is at the upper end of the main strip (King Street), but still walkable to where most of the activities are. Amenities were as expected. We had an issue with the AC that was addressed the next day. A noisy neighbor was a bit of a damper one night. The unit has been nicely appointed. Given our ground floor space, we had to keep the blinds closed as one bedroom window is right on the street, one faces the parking lot and garbage bins and the others face the walkway and staircase where passing neighbors can see in. Would strongly recommend the second floor unit. Owner was generally cordial and responsive in a timely fashion. Overall, still a good choice for the location and cost.
Wished I'd stayed in a downtown hotel, for equal cost and good night's sleep
Great location if you will Uber or walk to downtown Charleston, but not if you rent a car. The driveway and parking spaces are so small, I struggled to maneuver a Camry. The only other problem was the noisey neighbors who partied most nights we were there, making it hard to sleep. Otherwise, it is a lovely apartment and we enjoyed our stay for a week in Feb.
