It was so lovely to stay on the castle grounds, giving us the ability to walk the beautiful property whenever we wanted. The gatehouse was cosy. There were nice welcoming items like tea and hot chocolate.

Lovely unique accommodation

The Gatehouse was perfect for our stay. With one bedroom with en-suite on the ground floor it made it easy for our elderly parents to enjoy the place and surroundings. So long as whomever uses the second bedroom and bathroom can navigate narrow stairs, some without hand rails, this is a fantastically placed accommodation for exploring the Cotswolds and nearby attractions, especially Sudeley Castle.

A special place

Brilliant location within easy walking distance of the castle and village. Toiletries provided and plenty of towels and a nice welcome pack of essentials like milk, teabags etc. The gatehouse was spotlessly clean and provided a comfortable stay.

A beautiful property in a beautiful location.

We stayed at the property for 2 nights and it was just perfect. It seems the property has recently been renovated as everything looked very fresh. The interior design was beautiful and everything was very nicely presented. Although the living room would benefit from a second couch (in my opinion). Especially, if you stay longer and bad weather keeps you inside. There was coffee, tea, milk and a selection of jams which was very welcoming. The locations is perfect, walking distance to the town and the castle. If I will ever come to the Cotswolds again, I'll definitely stay at the Gate House again

The castle gatehouse

We stayed at the property for two nights . What a stunning building the gatehouse is . It feels very private and we had glorious weather so could enjoy the outside space . The beds in particular are super comfortable. Itā€™s a perfect base for the castle and gardens .also great for the town of Winchcombe . The property staff were also very helpful .

The most beautiful stay in the Cotswolds

Excellent stay in a real castle gatehouse. Very nice to walk to the castle to get some history of England. Every day a lot of people walk by with their dogs and all in a tranquille setting with birds of prey in the air. Everything you need is in the gatehouse.

Stay at Castle Gatehouse

Wonderful stay in the Castle Gatehouse over Easter, celebrating my 60th Birthday with friends. Four of us stayed, beds were comfortable, great location, we enjoyed our free visit to the Castle & Gardens which are well worth a visit. Walking distance to some nice pubs in Winchcombe, and enjoyed some lovely walks around the surrounding area. During our stay we had a problem with one of the smoke alarms, we called the number provided and maintenance visited with half an hour, most impressed.

Such an unusual property!

We spent a lovely two nights at the Castle Gatehouse. Itā€™s such an unusual property and so close to Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle, yet in quiet isolation. Absolutely everything you could wish for is provided at the Gatehouse and the inclusion of free admission to the Castle is a bonus. Itā€™s a beautiful place to visit and just along a path that leads directly from the Gatehouse.

Gorgeous place to stay for our wedding weekend

Great location, could walk to and from the castle. Close to our other booked accommodations (14 vineyard st and almsbury farmhouse). Good parking. Love the back garden it was lovely to have drinks in the evening. Avoid if you have accessibility issues! I also didn't realise bedroom #2 was not accessible from the main part of the building with bedroom #1, something to think about if you have children. You need to go outside to access. Great amenities, clear instructions. Really nice bathroom and comfy bed.

The gatehouse was lovely and a perfect location but the interior needs some updating. Kitchen chairs & fabric headboard were heavily stained and entire cottage was in need of dusting.

Highly recommend

We had a perfect short stay here without a car. A short walk into town for groceries, meals out and shopping, plus beautiful country to walk in, the castle, and gardens direct from your front door. We were there in the off-season so fewer tourists and lots of lambsā€”perfect! Clever, quirky, architectural conversion and wonderfully hot water for showers. There are several steep staircases in this particular conversion, so I wouldnā€™t recommend it for people that might challenge, but I would for everyone else. We loved our stay.

Nice stay at Gatehouse

We enjoyed our stay at Castle Gatehouse. Beds were comfortable and space was great for two couples. We loved walking up to castle in morning. Kitchen was sufficiently stocked for our needs. Coffee and tea were provided. The weather was hot and humid so a bit hard to keep upper bedroom cool with limited windows available to open (old building so understand the limitations). Some fans would be helpful. Overall Iā€™d recommend this place.

Great Location

The Gatehouse is in the perfect location to enjoy both walks from the door and a stroll in to Winchcombe. The grounds of the castle are a mecca for dog walkers so if you bring dogs, they will have plenty of company! We stayed for four nights, a short winter break. The Gatehouse was very warm and had everything we needed. There was only two of us so the space worked well, it would be a little tight with four people. The shower cubicle was host to some mould, it could do with a deep clean. We didn't use the second bedroom so can't comment on that.

A knight at the castle.

Our three day stay at the Gatehouse was exactly as we had hoped it would be. A great location with nature all around but the village amenities just 5 minutes walk away. The castle itself is both beautiful and historically significant, having been the resting place of Katherine Parr and home to monarchs and kingmakers. The rooms are cosy - itā€™s a gatehouse, not a chateau, so donā€™t expect to have acres of space. That doesnā€™t detract from the charm of the place and for one or two couples itā€™s something very different to the cottage let you would normally see. Very highly recommended.
