Beautiful apartment, amazing view, but not stocked or furnished well. Bed is not very comfortable and couch isn't either. For a high end penthouse, we expected higher end furnishings but it was truly incredible views and the host wss great
Not sure why this place was referred to as a âpenthouseâ - while itâs on the 50th floor - the layout is more of a junior 1 bedroom. Pros: The view is nice, but itâs facing the city side versus the Lake. Nice comfortable living room with desk, so you can work and good WiFi. The gym facilities was nice and we used that nearly every day of our 8 day stay.Cons: While the bed was comfortable - it was hard getting in/out of the bed if youâre sleeping on the side closest to the wall. As a 6â 2â guy - it was a struggle, since I sleep on that side of the bed. The towels provided were like âcotton blanketsâ - after a few days we end up using the beach towels. The toilet paper provided was cheap single-ply that you would find in a public restroom. We went down to the grocery store below and bought better toilet paper. The checkin process was interesting. We got there 10 minutes before our check-in time and was told to wait on the 9th floor since it was quite 4pm. It would have taken us 10 mins to get from the lobby to the apt with our bags. When I asked if the front desk was staffed 24 hours - the front desk person responded, âdid you read the emailâ - like wow!The constant messages from the owners about checkout and penalties was annoying at best. There was no warmth or welcoming spirit - seemed very transactional. While the location of the building was fine - close walking distance to many popular attractions - there were homeless people were outside the building constantly.
I would go back for the towels alone!!! Yes, the space was great - well laid out, plenty for 2 adults, THAT VIEW is even better than the photos show, ease of local transit, so many good food & drink options literally within a 10 minute walk - but those towels!!!!!!! I dream about themâŠâŠ. ;)
My 11 year old grandson and I loved the unit and the location. We arrived on train from Philadelphia. We could tour the entire city by walking or short Uber/Lyft ride. We shopped at Jewel Oscoda just below, had a great selection of fresh foods. Had a great time, Views are fantastic!
This unit is as described. The building amenities are nice extras. State Street is always busy and the CTA line could not be more convenient, .Nearby are grocers, restaurants and prime shopping.
You pay for what you get- the view was spectacular âšïž. Grocery store downstairs next door to the property. The penthouse had everything I needed, well stocked up, From paper towels, detergent, dishes to food plastics storage bags. You name it, pretty sure it had, if not the owner was just a call away.
Grand Indeed! James and Jeri-Louâs attention to detail and commitment to providing their guests a positive experience, coupled with the outstanding unit 50 floors up, made a memorable stay. The detailed instructions they provided about picking up âThe Bagâ and how to use its contents were VERY helpful. The doormen were friendly and knowledgeable. As we entered our romantic retreat, we were greeted by a personalized message on the TV screen welcoming us to this paradise in the sky. Nice touch! The unit was clean and fresh smelling. The furniture and furnishings were as advertised, with the appliances, cookware, dishes, linen, silverware, etc., all consistent with a unit of this caliber. The location, near the Chicago River, made it easy for us to get out and explore and indulge in famous eateries, like Gibsonâs Italia and Robertâs Pizza Company. All in all, it was exactly the home we wanted for our stay. Very pleased. No complaints.
We had an absolutely fabulous experience!! The view was even better than in the photos⊠with an amazing sunrise, sunset, view of the city, and view of Lake Michigan. The apartment was immaculate and very well stockedâŠ.. from spices to tissues to Q-tips. We did plenty of walking in the city, but if you needed more of a workout, the building was equipped with a gym, a swimming pool, and an outdoor track. It also had a library and complimentary Starbucks. It was within walking distance to all the attractions Chicago is known for, and the street was lined with wonderful restaurants/entertainment. We would definitely stay here again!!
Not sure I would call this room a penthouse. Loved the views and cleanliness. The size of the room was nice and it was everything as advertised. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable. Loved being able to walk to so many places.
My 16 yo daughter and I loved staying at this apartment. It was nice and close to restaurants and many of the things we wanted to see and do. Right next door to Jewel Osco which was very convenient. I loved how well stocked the apartment was. Everyone in the building was super nice and friendly. The gym, library and pool were great! Also, the night time view of the city was unmatched. Great communication with the owners. Would absolutely stay here again.
This place was great! We enjoyed our stay here which is located in a central location for all attractions. The unit was clean and well stocked. The amenities were excellent. So many restaurants to choose from and there is an excellent grocery store in the building.
But the best thing was the view from the balcony!
Clean, breathtaking views. Everything you need to have a great stay whether its for a weekend or a month. Jim.and Jeri-Lou provided great communication and made the wife and I feel at home.
This place was comfortable and centrally located for our visits to both Chicago ball parks. The view was amazing! We felt safe here being diwntown. The amenities having ziplock bags and a fan were a nice touch.
Close to grocery stores, Michigan avenue and restaurants. Place was very well equipped - we have stayed at many rented apartments and this was the best equipped. Will definitely rent again if we are in town.
The penthouse exceeded our expectations! We were able to check-in quickly upon arrival and felt right at home when we entered the apartment. Everything was clean/tidy, comfortable, and the balcony views were amazing. We enjoyed the ability to use the 9th floor level amenities during our stay and were pleasantly surprised by how close the building is located to the activities we had planned. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely stay here again!
Would 100% recommend! Communication with the owner was easy and instructions were clear. The property was exactly as described and immaculately clean. The neighborhood is wonderful, and we felt completely safe. We walked everywhere and enjoyed many of the nearby restaurants and pubs. Although it was cold in Chicago during our stay, we loved standing on the balcony to watch the beautiful sunsets. Actually, we spent a lot of time on the balcony, despite the cold, because the view from the 50th floor was so fabulous.
But if you like to sleep in, either bring a mask to cover your eyes or book one of the other apartments with a fully separate bedroom. As shown in the photos, this is more of a studio with a doorway but no door on the bedroom. There is a wall of windows in the living room, and the blinds do not block the light fully, which makes the bedroom bright.
Thank you for sharing your place with us. Our first time in Chicago. We stayed six days and still only got to fraction of the historic and fun places!
Everything.... the size, location, views, amenities, cleanliness, and service was perfect. So appreciated.
Really enjoyed being so close to the red line. We spent our days traveling around the city seeing the sites and visiting museums. Then arriving home to our quiet apartment and relaxing with that view of the lights of Chicago.
I highly recommend this place. My husband and I would love to stay here again when we visit Chicago .
We came to Chicago to attend a conference and, instead of staying at a crowded conference hotel, had a beautiful apartment with breathtaking views of the city. The owners communicated every detail perfectly, the doorman at the building was friendly and gracious, the apartment itself was exceptionally clean, comfortable and perfect for us. The location cant be beat... easy walking distance to everything we needed. Loved it!
We really enjoyed being on the 50th floor of this gorgeous penthouse. It was beautifully decorated and well stocked with supplies. The location was perfect. We were able to walk south to the river for an architectural boat cruise and a Frank Lloyd Wright tour starting at the Rookery and north to 360 Chicago for other great views at sunset and night. There were wonderful restaurants and shopping nearby. We highly recommend the Chicago Chop House. We had such a great time that we stayed an extra night! It was so nice of the hosts to be able to accommodate us on such short notice. This was a great place to stay!
Upon arrival after dark, we walked into the condo and were stunned at the Chicago view from the 50th floor through floor to ceiling windows/sliding glass doors! It never disappointed. A well stocked kitchen right down to the spices, detailed instructions on operating all equipment, current magazines describing the pulse and happenings of Chicago, well appointed furnishings, lots of closet space. Hotel staff in the lobby couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and the location put almost everything within walking distance ( or a short Uber ride).
When we couldn't figure out how to access our streaming service on the TV, the condo owner actually came to the site to walk us through set up. Service like that is not the norm!
You can't go wrong with this choice!
This unit, on the 50th floor, looks west affording spectacular sunset skies over the city lights. It is absolutely immaculate. The location allowed us to walk to everything: the Art Institute, River Walk, Miracle Mile and restaurants of every sort and price range.
