An overall negative experience with some positives, positives 1st. The house was nice and in a neighbourhood with a lot of amenities, although in a transition zone. The L station was very close & one of the reasons we chose this location.
On arrival the door to the house would not unlock, due to the batteries being dead and the host, Jay, got me in through the back door via a phone call and had the batteries replaced within a few hours. However, convincing him that the lock was not opening was very difficult. He did not believe me and was frustrated having to modify my entrance to the house.
We were instructed to not flush our used toilet paper but instead to PLACE OUR USED TOILET PAPER IN THE GARBAGE. This was not on the listing and very unexpected when visiting Chicagoland. We wouldnât stay there again.
Throughout our 3 nights stay we were unable to connect to the internet. We had access to the WiFi signal but not a connection to the internet. I repeatedly tried to resolve this problem with Jay but like the lock he assumed I was incompetent throughout the process. He referenced a landing page for the WiFi but never gave us the website. He was also confused as to why I wasnât connected to the network when he checked remotely. I couldnât contact him through the VRBO app without paying for US data through data roaming (Weâre from Canada). We did not expect to have to use up expensive roaming data limits when in the house as Internet was included in the price of the rental.
