The space was nicely laid out with a comfortable bed and sofa, with tables and counters providing room to get comfortable and organized for a 4 night/5 day stay. And it was very clean.
We learned that the responsiveness of the host was very good, as when we got there Chicago was experiencing an end of summer extreme heat wave; it was 99 outside and when we got up into the apartment the a/c had not been on and it was much hotter than 98. The a/c is in the bedroom only, and while that would have been quite adequate for "normal" days, it was not going to cool the other rooms in that kind of heat. After speaking with Sean, one of the hosts, he had a fan purchased and delivered within 2 hours that we were able to place at the entrance of the now cool bedroom and pull the cool air into the other rooms. The fan was tall and thin and quiet and took up almost no space and made the rest of our stay comfortable.
It's in a lovely neighborhood, just a block or two from Magnificent mile, easy bus access, and close to Oak Street Lake.
We went to Lou Malnati's for my first Chicago deep dish pizza. It is just around the corner and we actually ate there twice, in 5 days. It was SO good and if you like chocolate, their chocolate obsession dessert is indescribable, 4-minute walk from the apt. at State & Rush St.
It was a great place to stay. And about the stairs, it's 19 steps times 2, but how considerate that on the landing of the 2nd floor, there is a chair, which we almost needed!
