Unbeatable location made for a great week in Chicago! Unit was very clean. AC worked well during a warm week. Check in and check out very easy. We would stay here again on a return visit!
We were close to everything. Condo was well equipped, be helpful to tell there was a Keurig. Futon is ok for sleeping, not for sitting on. No real comfortable furniture in living room. King bed is good, sheets are old and flimsy. Strange motor humming sound in the bedroom. Bathroom was good, clean. No bathtub plug.
Really charming place and love the neighborhood-close to lake, zoo, and downtown. We used to live in this neighborhood so glad to find a local place to use regularly when in town.
It was so easy! There's parking right down the street that was cheaper than anywhere else, the hosts were great and Very responsive, close to Tons of fun, will definitely come back!
What an exceptional property! Perfect for a two-person getaway. It's right around the corner from shops and restaurants in the terrific Gold Coast neighborhood. Beautiful, modern decor with vintage building charm. It is very safe, quiet and comfortable - we got great sleep here. The host was communicative and everything was very easy. Definitely plan to come back to this gem!
I didnât realize when I booked this unit that I would have to carry my luggage up two flight of stairs. Unit is spacious, bathroom is a little tight the only issue I experienced was NOISE, first two nights it was the heater (I think) the last night I could hear foot steps from above and on the early morning of Monday it sounded like construction. Location is great if you want to be steps from high end shopping and restaurants.
Great amenities, great location, spacious and comfortable. Check in a few days prior was difficult as the owner/manager didnât message me or email me back⊠I had to call VRBO to have them investigate. Once they were made aware, smooth sailing from then on. Also, they listed a jacuzzi on site which was an error, and that was disappointing as I planned on that. Overall, despite these two things, great place ti stay!
Quiet street, walking distance to restaurants and shopping
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property! We were visiting Chicago for a fun weekend trip to celebrate our anniversary. The location was on a quiet street but within close walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shopping. The apartment was clean and very quiet in a beautiful, historic building. We highly recommend Tempo Cafe for breakfast. On our last morning in town, we actually saw Larry David, Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman at brunch there!
We enjoyed our stay in Chicagoâs Gold Coast. Apartment was great for a single or couple, in a fantastic location. We were able to walk to Soldier Field, Second City, downtown and all our meals. Historic old building, immaculately cleaned and updated.
This property was perfect for our weekend in Chicago. The surrounding area was cute and had lots of restaurant options. We were in town for the marathon so I appreciated being close by to a grocery store and the red line. The stop to the red line was a short walk and made getting to the start line a breeze.
You couldn't ask for a better spot to stay in downtown chicago. I feel like we got so lucky in accidentally, booking this, the first time we were in Chicago. 10 out of 10 recommend staying here.
Excellent location and lovely vintage building. Spacious apartment, but very cheap uncomfortable furniture and bed. No cutting knives in kitchen.
The worst flaw were the sharp nails pointing up through the wood floor in the bedroom in the high traffic area near the door to the kitchen which punctured the bare feet of my wife and I. There were also splinters in the floor.
Unlabeled mystery bath products in the shower required experimentation and some Kleenex would be appreciated.
Despite these issues we enjoyed our stay.
The space was nicely laid out with a comfortable bed and sofa, with tables and counters providing room to get comfortable and organized for a 4 night/5 day stay. And it was very clean.
We learned that the responsiveness of the host was very good, as when we got there Chicago was experiencing an end of summer extreme heat wave; it was 99 outside and when we got up into the apartment the a/c had not been on and it was much hotter than 98. The a/c is in the bedroom only, and while that would have been quite adequate for "normal" days, it was not going to cool the other rooms in that kind of heat. After speaking with Sean, one of the hosts, he had a fan purchased and delivered within 2 hours that we were able to place at the entrance of the now cool bedroom and pull the cool air into the other rooms. The fan was tall and thin and quiet and took up almost no space and made the rest of our stay comfortable.
It's in a lovely neighborhood, just a block or two from Magnificent mile, easy bus access, and close to Oak Street Lake.
We went to Lou Malnati's for my first Chicago deep dish pizza. It is just around the corner and we actually ate there twice, in 5 days. It was SO good and if you like chocolate, their chocolate obsession dessert is indescribable, 4-minute walk from the apt. at State & Rush St.
It was a great place to stay. And about the stairs, it's 19 steps times 2, but how considerate that on the landing of the 2nd floor, there is a chair, which we almost needed!
This Gold Coast gem location canât be beat. Easy walk to beach, restaurants, shopping and subway. Owners are attentive and responsive. We had a great time!
