A fantastic house with everything you need. Big rooms. So close to the Naval Base - we were able to walk to the Drill Hall for the SIlirs graduation day and missed all the traffic at 6am!
Our stay was everything we needed to relax with our recent Navy bootcamp graduate. The host went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 would stay here again!
House was clean. Ellie the host was very hospitable. Had some electrical issues after a windstorm and was quickly addressed. Just a breaker needing reset. As far as my son's pass and review, this place is within 5 to 10 min. Of everything you need to do to have a great stay. The NEX to pick up tickets is like 3 min way and the base is like 7 min. Definitely a great location to accomplish all things you need to do. Highly recommend.
The host welcomed us & stayed in contact throughout our stay. The house was in a good location near the Naval Academy for our sonâs graduation. All amenities were fine, however w/ no access to a washer-dryer it would have been nice to know there would only be 1 bath towel per person(8 people) for a 6 day stay. If we would have known we could have packed some extra towels but since we didnât we had to use the same towel for 6 days.
Pros- Well maintained older home with very comfortable beds. Host was responsive and the home is spacious and very close to all your needs for a Navy Bootcamp graduation. Less than 2 miles from the graduation site.Cons- we stayed here during a very cold winter week in Chicago. Heating system could not warm the home adequately. We wore our coats inside to stay warm. The electricity in the front room (with the fooseball table) did not work. The front door to the home remains locked, so if you have food delivered you have to go out the back door and walk around the home to the front to retrieve it. During a very cold Chicago week (-17) this was inconvenient.Overall we did enjoy our stay, my recommendation would be to upgrade the heating system to the home. Thank you.
Our stay was perfect! It was very close to the Naval base, allowing us to walk to graduation in under twenty minutes. Our host was also top notch!! We had a situation come up and she drove out of her way to accommodate our need! Highly recommend!!
The house was older but kept in very good condition. The host contacted us to make sure that everything was ok and to make sure all our needs were met. We enjoyed our stay at this home
We traveled from California for our sonâs RTC bootcamp graduation. It was 3 degrees outside and the home was cozy and warm when we arrived. The home is nice and close to base which made it fantastic for picking up tickets, and our Sailor. The host was very kind and quick to respond if we had a question about anything. Great fenced in parking for our rental car in the alley. Would highly recommend.
Five stars goes to the host, Ellie! The location was good since we were there for our sons bootcamp graduation. We were literally 5min from base. Made it great the morning of graduation and picking him up during his liberty call. The house was old and it showed. The beds were all different so some people may have a better sleep than others. But all are good enough for a temporary stay. PLENTY of space in the living room to hang out which is what we really wanted. Foosball table also. SOMETHING TO NOTE: three rooms are on the second floor and only one on the main. No washer and dryer to use. The kitchen is not stocked with a lot of stuff. But we were able to make things like lasagna. But I did tell the host so she could make sure the right dishes were in the house. Since it looked like this house was mainly used for graduation parents we left behind a few things for the next renter. Just small stuff like paper plates and aluminum foil. But if everyone did this then we would keep helping out our fellow families. There was some coffee and stuff left before us as well. Long story short great host, okay house, great distance from base, sketchy looking area but where isn't in Chicago? At least coming from a small town this big city scared me. LOLSafe travels everyone! Thank you Ellie!!
Excellent location (less than 2 miles from GL Naval Station) for families attending Seaman Recruit boot camp graduation. 4 bdrms & 2 1/2 baths were perfect for several family members in town for graduation. Especially when our new Sailor was granted overnight liberty. Large family room area and separate large dining area were perfect for relaxing and when we ordered dinner in vs trying to go out.
We stayed here for 6 nights during our sonâs naval RTC graduation. Very convenient if your sailor is staying in GL for A school and has liberty all weekend. So close to the base. Plenty of space for lots of family members. Older home but it is clean, communication with owner was good and they allowed us a late check out to spend as much time with our sailor.
Very large house. Great for families. Lots of room. Ideas for improvement- offer more dishes, silverware, etc. since large groups can stay there. Offer basic cleaning supplies so people can clean countertops after using. Offer extra hand towels and kitchen towels for cleaning. Have directions for tv use. Recommendations for places to eat/things to do.
These people have no idea what clean means! Theyâre rude and despicable! Donât stay at this property unless you want sour garbage cans, old condiments in the fridge, hair everywhere, dirty dishes, pots and pans, spiders, and bed bugs! BEWARE OF THE CASH GRAB! The owner doesnât care about sanitation or comfort of his guest. Yet, he will tell you how amoral and unethical you are for reporting him to Vrbo for misrepresenting the condition of the property.
The owner of the property was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Our family has stayed at two houses from the owner and each house is beautiful and well taken care of. Two graduations from Navy boot camp and two pleasant stays! I would recommend this house or any other of the owners properties.
The house is old and in need of updates. We arrived at night, and the house was difficult to locate because it did not have a numbered address on the house. We had to use the process of elimination. The owners reached out once, only asking, "Have you checked into your VRBO?" I asked them several questions without a reply. It is close to the Naval Base, but if I could do it again, I would rent in Libertyville or Forest Lakes.
The home was exactly as describedâa basic roof over our heads with no real luxury. It was relatively clean, though nothing special. We had just enough towels for the duration of our stay, and the beds werenât particularly comfortable. The biggest advantage was its location, just down the street from the Navy Base where my son was graduating. Aside from that, there wasnât much else to highlight, though the space itself was quite large.Check-in was easy, and the management company was accommodating when I spoke with them. Overall, it was a decent deal for the price and convenience. However, the neighborhood felt a bit sketchy. That said, it served its purpose for what we needed.
Thank you very much! This was the perfect location for my sonâs navy graduation it accommodated everyone and I was able to do all my cooking for a huge friend and family meal. The rooms were very spacious and the living area was perfect for hosting the extra friends and family That came over to celebrate the navy graduation Thanksgiving and Christmas all wrapped up into one. The location was only four minutes for pick up and drop off, which was absolutely perfect. There was no time wasted on the road not getting to see my son. I want to personally thank the host for accommodating our needs. It was very much appreciated.!!!
