Got in line of about 10 groups at 9:36pm to check-in. Itās about 125 degrees in the lobby and someone is smoking marijuana outside the doors so thereās a waft of it every time the double doors open.
At about 10:30, the line has grown significantly behind me. There is a high girl 2 behind me works at a bar for the last 15 years bartending and would like everyone to know their specials and all they have on tap. Itās so hot someone opens a fridge near and stands in the door
By this point my son has been in the car about 1.5hrs while Iām standing in line.
At 11:15, the only person working announces, theyāve been overbooked by a 3rd party and they donāt have inventory for the number of ppl they see in line. Iām 2nd from the front now. But high girl shares thereās a two dollar beer special at her bar. Ppl are mad, mad. āI have a confirmation #ā (barging to the front). āEVERYONE has a confession #!ā
Ppl are writing names on a piece of blank paper. Hotel staff tell ppl to write your name here and the boss will refund you tomorrow. Ppl are losing their minds. Iām next. The night time relief comes in and canāt believe it. Lady behind me who Iāve got to know really well in the last two hours is in town bc of family member in poor health. Iām now at the front of the line.
They look at their inventory and check a room and I got the last one. I had to tap my card 3x even though showed approved on my end. Still fearful Iāll have extra charges. Pool was also closed for renovations.
