Great rooms and great individual staff. However there are far too many of them who clearly have nothing much to do but flutter around you. Very irritating. The hotel also boasts of the free drinks in the fridge. There are three extraordinary bottles of something which can bought for almost nothing at the local shop and they sit in a fridge that has no power and so the drinks are not even above the airconned room temperature. The gym is, for once in a hotel, great. Above all the area is a favela. I would strongly advise avoiding the hotel and indeed Colombo has almost nothing to recommend it.

Only had a short stay. Well appointed modern hotel. The highlight is the roof top pool and view (just stunning). The breakfast buffet is really large and varied. Staff and friendly buy slightly impersonal: maybe that’s a big city Colombo thing…location is great right on the water, with most attractions max 10 min away by tuk tuk. Would recommend for a couple of days in the city.

My friend and I had a 2 night stay of our 6 nights touring of Sri Lanka. As you walk through the doors you are escorted to the reception area. Check in was quick and you are escorted to your room where you are told of the amenities in the room. The room was clean, spacious and had sea views. We had a balcony with a seated area. Breakfast consisted of wide selection and my food allergies was catered for. I was impressed that the reception staff at the Tide restaurant knew my allergies and a chef would guide me on what was safe or make me something slightly different. The outdoor view from the Tide restaurant is amazing especially at sunset. The food there is very nice. The roof top area is lovely and a very nice place to sit and relax. The complimentary city tour is a bonus and a nice thought. Overall I was very impress with this hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

The whole experience was wonderful from being collected at the airport and walking in the front door. Very welcoming, great staff and service, room was beautifully done, rooftop areas were brilliant and restaurants and food all very high standards. Only downsides I can think were that there was no private changing spaces in ladies poolside facilities and the live music and entertainment going on at weekends was too loud and went on until 1am so I had a couple of nights where I struggled to sleep. Apart from that, wonderful stay and would recommend.

Free city tour was a worthwhile and our guide and driver were super friendly. The hotel was beautifully presented and the staff accommodating in all our requests. Roof top bar and pool a highlight after a long day of travel.

I wasn’t impressed with the reception guy who checked us in. Not very welcoming. However the housekeeping staff who looked after us was very attentive, helpful and efficient. The room was clean and fresh. He paid attention to detail and was pro active. Overall I would certainly recommend Marino Beach.

Excellent and very accommodating staff whether at reception, restaurants, concierge, etc. Top cuisine, room service, rooftop swimming pool, etc. The only thing I kindly ask the management to address is the limited and very slow internet speed everywhere in the hotel. Coverage and speed should be improved significantly. I still strongly recommend this hotel.
