It was exactly what we wanted for a quick weekend getaway. Brad and his family were very pleasant to visit with. We enjoyed the weekend and looking forward to returning during better weather.
The place is even more beautiful in person. The quiet - the wildlife - the unique space - the walking distance to the winery on Saturday. It was exactly what we needed!
We enjoyed the quiet and relaxation. The band Sunday at the vineyard was great, and the wine slushes were refreshing. Owners were very friendly. I wish we could have fished from the shoreline, since others were using the small dock much of the time, but it was very overgrown. Stars were amazing and watching the deer and heron were highlights.
Between the cuteness of the âcorn crib;â the endless fields where we walked and walked; the turtles, ducks, geese and herons on the lake; the peacefulness of the silence - this place is truly magical. We cannot wait to go backâŠ
We really enjoyed our stay. Corn Crib Cottage is unique and lovely. It is well represented in the photos. The fishing wasnât great, but maybe that was our lack of skills. Ha! Perhaps we will go back in the spring before it gets mossy, or take a kayak out instead of fishing from the shore. Being able to have our fur baby with us was a bonus. It was a fun micro vacation
This place was perfect for what we needed!! Quiet, cozy place! I loved the fact there was no WiFi and limited cell service, we HAD to put our phones down and we had a great time! We will be back again!
The property was so peaceful and quiet! Exactly what I was looking for! The view of the lake from the balcony was perfect in the morning! The corn crib house was so unique and comfortable. I will go back!
Charming space for two. Kitchen is minimal, but adequate. Water was very low on the lake due to the drought, so the shores were muddy, and not very fishable, but we used the canoe and boat with good success on bass fishing! We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings and exploring some nearby small towns. Overall, it was a very relaxing getaway âoff the grid.â
We wanted to get away for a quick weekend that was simply quiet, unique, romantic, and away from people in general. This place did not disappoint!! Brad had the place in great shape and communicated any/everything we would have needed and responded quickly to any questions upon getting to the area. We ventured to neighboring towns for a meal or 2 but pretty much stayed at the crib around a fire and enjoyed the geese/ducks and deer. This place is like stepping back into a simpler time.
Had no access to the lake due to overgrown weeds. Fishing boat and canoe were unusable. Walking paths were nowhere to be found other than 3 paths that went about 100 yards and ended in the same place. Tiny AC in room couldn't keep the room under 90 degrees. Got stung multiple times in the boat shed. I would not stay there again or recommend it to anybody else. Extremely overpriced and misrepresented online.
We were very disappointed, we couldnt fish around the lake due to the overgrowth and no paths leading to the lake, would of loved to try the boat or canoe there was no easy way of getting it on the water with so much overgrowth even around the dock! The boathouse was unkept, fishing gear all over, the life jackets had either mouse or bird feces all over them. The window air conditioner in the corncrib did not keep up with heat and we even cleaned the plugged dirty filter and that did not help. You advertised hiking paths we did not find any hiking paths... we planned and paid for this resorvation a year in advance based on your advertisement. We ended up leaving early...
We arrived late night on a Friday and left Saturday evening. Had bad weather on arrival night which cleared up by morning. So couldnât get the full view of the scenery until we woke up.
Pros: Cool midwest scenery out in the middle of nowhere. Cabin has a unique look to it. Everything you need is available and ready to be used. Owner was super attentive and assisted with a knob issue immediately when it happened. Lots of photo opportunities. Very closed in and quiet Cept the outside ambience. Had reception from both AT&T and Verizon cell phones out there.
Cons:
A few bugs were inside but not worrying nuance. Rails for stairs is a bit loose. Very hot once we arrived and took a couple hours before it got to a cooler temperature than it was outside. Bed wasnât super comfortable. Kept dog away from lake to be safe.
Had a long weekend trip with my best friend! The place was so relaxing. The views were spectacular! We spent hours canoeing the lake and it was so relaxing and peaceful! Will go back again!
Sweet spot for one or two folks. It's a nice open space with balcony overlooking lake. Small area for any type of food prep so keep that in mind. Truly a place for a lovely getaway from it all. Would return. I mean often do you get to stay in a converted corn crib?
The corn crib cabin was very rustic, but clean. Really secluded area. Nice and peaceful. The only thing was, we did not get a complimentary bottle of their wine. They must have forgot to leave one.
We had such a relaxing time here! It was so peaceful and refreshing. We got out in the canoe several times and just enjoyed and appreciated God's creation!
