Perfect place for what you’re paying

This house is your typical, old dauphin island house. It honestly wouldn’t take much to make it sooo much better. But the cheap price easy beach(bay) access definitely outweighs the negative things. Ultimately, we would for sure stay here again because it was sooo easy with the kids. The sunsets from the deck are BEAUTIFUL! Updating some aspects of the deck would be my top recommendation. I listed some things to note below! Inside: as previous reviews mentioned, there are very minimal cooking supplies/tools. There was one knife that was *almost* sharp enough to cut a lemon. Thankfully, we went into this knowing all of that, so we packed accordingly and brought pre-cooked meals that were easy to just stick in the oven. I can’t imagine trying to cook a meal in there. There were lots of reviews complaining about the mattresses, but we didn’t find them uncomfortable at all! There are no rugs anywhere, unfortunately, to help with the sound of the floor and help catch some of the leftover sand. The vacuum is from the stone ages. A simple little vacuum would’ve helped so much - I was not about to sweep the whole house the entire week. The washer machine runs, but it definitely does not clean. Our clothes were the same as when we put them in, just wet. Outside: There is no porch swing, the deck is very sketchy in places, and there is little to no seating on the deck. All around where the bbq pit is is pretty disgusting. The hose desperately needs to be replaced!

Perfect Honeymoon spot

My wife and i wanted a nice quiet stay with a breath taking view and we got just that. Very quaint house, very minimalistic, but well spaced out. Private beach on the bay side and minutes feom everything.

Needs some updating

Overall the property was ok. The inside was very clean when we arrived. The following needs attention:-Mattresses on all 4 beds need to be updated.-The front door needs adjusting, sits crooked in frame enough that the dead bolt just sits in the hole. Would not take much to push the door open.-The stove needs to be leveled. Couple of burners did not fit properly in the slots.-The exhaust fan in the hall bathroom (by the 2 bedrooms) does not work at all.-The listing states there were tv’s in all three bedrooms. There is NO tv in the bedroom with the two twin beds.-There are labels on wall switches, which is great, but would be nice to be able to read them. -The pots and pans were decent for cooking. The location is nice, located in a very quiet neighborhood with a great deck and gas grill that was clean. The Gulf side beach is a very short walk up the block and across the street.

So great!

We loved the proximity to a private bayside beach, hardly any waves (great for small kids!), cleanliness and comfort of the house, and great price. The public beach was easy to walk to as well. My only complaints would be that the listing said there were spices stocked and there were none (and the only store on the island only carried giant containers of salt and pepper), and the WiFi was spotty (hard to connect to smart tv, but this wasn’t a big deal). Also, just fyi, standard baby gates won’t fit the width of the deck stairs, so plan accordingly with babies and toddlers. Other than those minor details, it was a great house and a great vacation!

Perfect location

Great view of the bay and a short walk to the gulf side. The place was clean and comfortable. Only complaint was the mattresses. Like other reviews have said they are pretty bad. I’d at least recommend a mattress topper if nothing else.

Overall great house! Did have issues with the air and fridge but reached out to management and someone was sent but unfortunately things were not fixed before we left. There was also a glass coffee table in the living room which isn’t ideal for little kids but even with that I would gladly stay at this property again!

Great house and location

This beautiful house was in the perfect location right on the bay, with a little beach area right out the back door. And only a short walk to the Gulf. Although we didn't even go to the gulf side the whole week we were there. The beach area behind the house was perfect for the grandkids. No big waves...no seaweed and not deep until you walked way out. The area was perfect also. Not crowded...and we were there Memorial Weekend. The only traffic you have to worry about is the occasional slow golf cart. The restaurants were amazing. This was our first time coming here. And definitely my new spot.

Quiet with incredible view

I usually stay on the Gulf side of Dauphin Island. This is my first rental on the bay side and I was pleasantly pleased with the view and peaceful calming location. Keyless entry was very difficult to use when entering the front door.... My hands are large and could barely push the complex number sequence without pressing more then one button at a time. I would go here again for sure.

The house is at a great location and Dauphin Island is beautiful with friendly locals. But this house is very worn and not kept clean. Very few appliances were available and dishes looked as if they were saved from a thrift store.

Perfect Quiet Getaway

This property was in the perfect location with a million dollar view of the bay and the house was a short walk to the gulf side beach access at the other end of the road. The property itself was great. We found the beds and furniture to be very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed to cook and eat in each night. There were a couple of minor issues during our trip, but nothing that made any negative impact on our trip: First, when we arrived the floors were very dirty. It wasn't something that was noticable at first, but within about 10 minutes of my youngest son walking around in the house, the bottom of his feet were black from the dirt/grime. The property management company did ask if we had any concerns that they could address, but we had already mopped the floors and remedied the issue so we didn't request them to come clean the floors. Second, on the beach/sand area directly in front of the house on the bayside, there were tons of pieces of broken glass of various sizes. In one trip down there, I found over a dozen sharp pieces of glass. This is obviously not something that the property owner or management company can address, but wanted to include this so future guests can watch for glass while down there. Third, the majority of the deck furniture shown in the pictures was not on the deck. The only thing we had was the picnic table/benches and a white plastic chair. Their pictures need to be updated to reflect this.

We stayed there before but some things changed. They removed the swing from the deck. The floor was not clean enough. Nails on the deck were sticking out and some deck boards were cracked, very dangerous.

Ok stay.

House is clean, but seriously in need of some upkeep. None of the lower outside lights work. Most of the blinds are damaged. The beds are terrible, like they came out of your great-grandma's house 35 years ago. TV in the main room has a line going through the screen like it is about to go out. The kitchen is MINIMALLY stocked (well, there is a fondu set, but no sharp knives, and for being on the gulf you would think there would be a stock pot...) The bathtub doesn't drain right. If you stay more than 2-3 days you will have to bring laundry detergent since the bare minimum of towels are provided. T.P., paper towels, trash bags, and dishwasher detergent will also be needed. Also, the pictures show a hammock, there was not one on the property when we were there. If it is cool weather when you go, bring some extra blankets. Outer boards on the deck are weathered to the point that some are dangerous to walk on. Could be a nice place with some basic upkeep.

Cute and cozy

We stayed for 4 days/3 nights - super cute, very cozy, perfect location.. steps to the water and small bay-side beach, quiet, and clean. We plan to come back and stay here with our kiddos soon. One down fall- beds are not comfortable AT ALL. Otherwise, we loved it!

Great view/needs a couple updates

This place has a great open floor plan and a great view with a small beach on the bay side. Big deck out the back with a picnic table to hang out. The beds are all super soft and cushy. We have more firm mattress preferences. The coffee table was wobbly. The fixtures in the property were super dated. Some of the amenities listed were missing. We called Vacasa and although they said they would be dropped of they never arrived during our stay. The property require you to start laundry before you check out yet there was no laundry detergent so we bought some in compliance.
