The single room was an attic room with an apex ceiling only 5 foot 10 inches high.
One velux window covered with a filthy curtain frayed at the edges, no sink or any other facility in the room, the shared bathroom was two seperat w..c's and a shower room one floor down. There was inadequate hand holds on the final staircase which made it very difficult for an 80 year d to manage especially with luggage.
Staff were lovely and the room had a couple of extra touches I wasnât expecting like bottles of water. The only thing that I would say tainted the stay was that I couldnât turn the heating off in the room and with the room being small and at the top of the building, it was so, so hot. Other than that, great.
An old property located just on the shoreline at the most central place possible. Both staff members i came across were exceptionally nice and accommodating.
Room was unfortunately grubby upon arrival, room was dusty, the bedding had clearly been used (hairs and stains on the bedding). This was brought to the attention of the landlord who didnt apologise but did offer to change the bedding when we went out. When we returned the bedding had not been changed, but a bag with fresher sheets had been placed outside the door.
Another thing to note was that the milks supplied with the tea and coffee were mostly >1 month expired.
The bed was thankfully comfortable, but overall the lack of cleanliness was concerning, especially at ÂŁ70 for one night.
Walking the SW Path we stayed here overnight. The rooms were basic but did the job and were reasonably priced. Itâs no frills but it doesnât claim to be
Like the house of horrors room smelt very damp could not open window bed was down to its springs toilets ran out of paper toilet would not flush food was packet food cooked in microwave not a place i would recommend
On booking I opted for paying at Railway Inn, but on arrival I was advised that payment had to be in cash not card, even though the Railway Inn took card payments in the bar. I asked for a receipt, which wasnât available straight away, but recâd the night before departure
We visited The Railway Inn to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and found the room we stayed in had been refurbished and very clean.
The shared shower and 2 WCs was not a problem.
Tracy and Gary made us feel very welcome and despite the pub being closed (covid) it looked very inviting and cant wait to August as we have booked 4 days for my 66th birthday celebration.
