We were expecting better because of all the great reviews. But we got to the apartment & it hadnât been cleaned yetâŠ.2 of the bedrooms were still unmade & dirty towels were still hung over the shower. And it hadnât been vacuumed either. We did contact the owner/manger & they did seem genuinely surprised that it wasnât clean. When they did come to the apartment, they apologized & said that their housekeeper had the wrong date. Another issue was noiseâŠ.walls were very thin & we could hear people coming and going from the other apartments late at night. Another big issue is the parkingâŠ..there is no parking anywhere close to where you stay. They all say no parking between 3am-6am. We had to park at least 5 blocks away. Wasnât convenient at all. I personally would never stay here again.
We love the convenient location, classy historic building with big windows and high ceilings, many bedrooms, kitchen, and bath! Perfect for some privacy and downtime amidst a fun visit to Decorah. Our 3nd stay with Koreana -- we highly recommend!
Property was clean and right downtown with easy access to businesses. However-we were told to use the entrance in the alley which was incorrect - entrance was in the front. Bedrooms were comfortable but stuffy - AC did not reach them. No clocks. TV was BIG but buffered at least every minute.
Food left in fridge by previous guest. Tiny pebbles on floor throughout the apt. It is conveniently located downtown spacious 4 bedrooms easy access. Parking somewhat inconvenient at night due to no street parking but not terrible
The directions were misleading-had to enter from a alley and 2nd floor!!!!!!the stair were narrow, dark, and twice as many as a normal stair case. We were unable to find a way to call the owner-very dosappointing
Our family enjoyed a recent stay at Koreana #1 during a recent Friday night in Decorah. The downtown location is wonderful, and there are plenty of rooms and beds for a family group. Parking is a big problem however--cars left on the street overnight are often ticketed, the parking lot mentioned in the property listing is now blocked off, and additional parking is difficult to find. We ended up parking behind the Hotel Winneshiek across the street. Overall we enjoyed our stay however.
The apartment was clean and tidy in a great location downtown. It was quiet even though there are several bars and restaurants nearby.
The air conditioning worked well. There was a burned out light bulb, missing bulbs in overhead lights and no bedside reading lamp in one of the bedrooms. There is a steep, narrow, 23 step stairway that could be a problem for some people. The toilet has one of those fancy bidet things that wash, dry, massage, etc your nether regions which could be fun to experiment with but makes for an uncomfortable seat for a larger person. All four bedrooms are basically interior bedrooms with no outdoor window which could be a problem with people with claustrophobia. All minor problems.
There is no parking on downtown area streets from 3 AM to 6 AM so be sure to look for signs. so you don't get ticketed. The property instructions said there was a parking lot a couple blocks away but the lot had concrete barriers around it and the only entrance was always blocked by a pickup truck. I called the police to inquire about downtown places to park. There is a lot across from the post office by the recycling containers and you can park along Broadway on the block next to the court house (not on the other side of the street next to the churches) and on the same side of the street on the next block down hill. Otherwise, you will need to park a couple more streets away.
Good breakfast places next door and across the street. I would stay again at this property,
We enjoyed this property right above Koreana. I had a very hard time figuring how to get into the property! No directions were provided as to where to access the apartment or which apartment it was! The code to open the door also opened other apartment doors in the vicinity. :O Better directions must be supplied. It would also be very helpful to share that steep stairs must be navigated to enter the property. This was fine for us, but those with physical limitations would find this challenging. Super comfortable beds and a large variety of pillows. Will stay again!
Lovely set of rooms with larger living room/dining area than I expected based upon the photos. The building is a classic of old main street, and the second floor apartment has high ceilings and beautifully renovated architectural details from a bygone era. We loved staying here, and the meal at Koreana restaurant downstairs was delicious. Thank you very much. We will definitely stay here again.
