Location,& Parking good, rear stairway steps narrow for older person with cane. Portable ACs units loud. Unit was not clean when arrived, contacted owner and he had took care of cleaning. Unit worked for our needs for the week.
We enjoyed our short visit to Des Moines. The space fit our needs nicely. It is an old building with creaky floors, but furnishings are updated. We were close to what we need to do with lots of stores and restaurants near by.
It was a great location for our needs. Nice layout. It was mostly clean. I could write my name in the dust on my bedroom night stand. Host, Jose, was not as responsive as I would have liked.. We texted him about an hour and a half of our arrival asking for two blankets and for a stopper for the bathtub. Housekeeping came the next day but by then we figured how to be warm. The unit doesn't have heat control in unit. I never did get a stopper for the tub. I went and bought one myself. I was told to look under the sink but there was not one in the bathroom. Right before we left I did find one under the kitchen sink when we were getting things out to wash our dishes. I had sent him a picture of under the bathroom sink so he could see there wasn't one there. He never responded. It didn't occur to me that the stopper for the tub would be under the kitchen sink. In any case, he didn't follow up to make sure I found it and was satisfied. Not a big deal, but annoying. I have stayed in VRBO's that were much more interested in taking care of guests. It is located in a great neighborhood for getting out walking and seeing historical homes. Lots of good resultants nearby. Easy to get on and off the freeway.
Things to be aware of: Historic building, so be ready for stairs, and radiator noises.Easy communication with Owner.Very clean, affordable, great location and felt safe.
Perfect spot for our quick visit to Des Moines. The great location felt close enough to everything we wanted to do, yet still in a residential area - quiet and charming!
Excellent communication from Steve!
Top of my list for the next trip to Des Moines.
