Quaint, clean apartment in a walkable location. Would recommend to others. Note you do hear traffic so if that keeps you awake, bring earplugs or white noise app.
Steve was a great communicator from booking months ago to check out. The space was exceptionally clean and organized. The two portable air conditioners kept up surprisingly well the first day with 90 degree temp. A detailed house guide was provided with very helpful suggestions for bars, breweries, and restaurants. The bed was comfortable and the full kitchen was spotless. Very pleased with the host.
Was perfect for what I was looking for. A place to relax away from life for the weekend. The only downside was the stairs, with bad knees I just took it slow, but had read other reviews about them so was prepared. The owner was very good about communicating everything in an easy to follow way.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this quaint apartment. It is conveniently located in the downtown Des Moines location and walking distance to a lot of things including the Wells Fargo Arena. It is also well stocked. We enjoyed our stay.
The apartment was so conveniently located near everywhere I needed or wanted to be. I loved the neighborhood and how safe I felt regardless of what time I was out walking the dogs. Also, parking was always available and the building was quiet.
I enjoyed the location, close to downtown. What I didn't like was the air conditioning made it sound like a window was left open and I was woken by morning and evening traffic. I missed it in the listing, the apartment was on the 3rd floor, hard to drag things up those stairs. Easy parking, loved walking around and checking out downtown. I would definitely stay here again but on a different floor! The shower is a tad small but everything else was good.
The issue with this property is the fact that I came into a place that wasnât clean where dog hair was all over the place. I asked the host in advance could they send me extra hand towels and I received 2 wash clothes on a 4 day stay. The place was on a very busy street due to heavy traffic from the hospital across the street. The building was cold so you would have to use portable radiators to keep warm. The regular radiators in the house didnât kick hardly any heat but it made a bunch of knocking sounds in the bedroom like it would get the place up. Only upside to this place is how close it is to downtown
The place was clean and super close to downtown. We could walk to restaurants and lived the recommendations they supplied. The property manager was in contact with us to make sure we needed anything and responsive to our questions. Definitely would recommend.
Overall a great stay. Apartment was clean and I loved the coconut lavender hand and body soap. So relaxing.
My only issues were that one morning while I was in my PJs waking up a lady came and knocked on the door to do bug prevention, sent me running for clothes and I was a bit frazzled.
The other thing to note is that the walls are thin and you can hear other tenants and the outside sounds very very clear. Got woken up on Sunday at 3am due to someone turning on their yb really loud.
The location in Sherman Hill is wonderful! This place is SO close to everything downtown Des Moines has to offer. We visited the BEST Italian restaurant (Noah's Ark), hiked a wonderful parked (Gray's Lake), enjoyed a hip throwback bar (High Life Lounge), and took in a ballgame (I-Cubs at Principal Park). Everything was less than 15 minutes away!!
Being on the third floor of a historic building with steep narrow stairs (no elevator) somewhat limits the size of the furniture and bed that can be appointed. The double bed and small sofa made for COZY hanging out and sleeping for two adults and a 70 pound dog. However, the neighborhood was safe for walking and provided some cool old architecture for our outdoor exploration.
