Great accommodations for a family get away. The house was clean and ready upon arrival. Snacks and cool temp on a hot day made for a nice arrival. Location made it easy to find and easy to explore Des Moines. The house made it easy to enjoy family time which can be tough with two teens. Thanks for helping us make some great family memories.

Iowa Family Reunion

We were two families of five (all adults) gathering for the 4th of July weekend. The house was a perfect match for our needs. Plenty of beds/bedrooms for everyone and a variety of gathering spaces throughout the house. The basement is amazing! Well stocked kitchen and bonus amenities that were not listed, like a gas grill. Host was very responsive and pleasant. The house was clean and comfortable. It was a gem of a find! The neighborhood is generally quiet, except during the 4th of July weekend. Let's just say this neighborhood likes their fireworks.

Perfectly outfitted, has everything, great layout

The home perfectly suited the needs of our extended family for our vacation in the Des Moines area. Great layout for time all together, as well as plenty of spaces for smaller groups or the kids to split off and play. Multiple seating areas. Very clean and well-maintained. Well-equipped kitchen with everything we needed, plus a large dining room table that fit our whole group of 11. Nice outdoor seating area. Plenty of space for parking in the driveway. The host was very responsive to our questions. Thank you!

Great place for a family gathering

The property is just as shown online. My 3 grown kids and their families joined us for a long weekend. Each family had it's own space for the evenings. For the day time, there was plenty of space for the kids to play and for adults to visit. We enjoyed the game tables and games in the basement. This is the best place we have rented as a family and will kerp it in mind for the future.

Anniversary get together

We stayed here to celebrate our parents 40th wedding anniversary. There were 8 adults and 5 littles under the age of 4. There was plenty of space and we all felt like we had our own getaway when we needed it. The hosts are so thoughtful for families as they had some much stuff for kiddos! The house is set up great for family gatherings and was able to accommodate us well. Merle Hay offers lots of fun opportunities to get out and enjoy the city as well!

Christmas 2024

We had a family gathering and this home was perfect for that. It is so much bigger than it looks from the outside. The home was clean, organized and had everything we needed to have our family Christmas celebration. Tonya was very easy to work with and very responsive. Highly recommend this home especially for larger groups.

Clean, comfortable and large house

This was perfect for an early family Christmas as my siblings and our families came to town to visit our aging mother. Tons of space for kids to play and plenty of TV’s to watch the games and cartoons. Host was terrific and we hope to come back next year. Highly recommend!

Best stay ever

My company came to Iowa because we had a booth at the farm progress show. We chose this amazing home because it was going to be five of us coming. We could have not asked for a better place to stay. We were able to get together at the end of each day and talk about strategy for our next day. The house was very clean, plenty of room, and included everything we needed. The host was exceptional. When we come back to Iowa, we will be staying here again!

We had 9 of us stay at this VRBO. The rooms were great and there was plenty of space for us all. We were able to stay for 5 days and found the neighborhood quiet and close enough to all of our destinations.

These hosts understand excellence in rentals. They thought of every single detail, and more. We found it to be perfect in every way, for our family ages of 1 to 75, while in town for our daughter’s wedding. The hosts went above and beyond to ensure that my wedding baking tasks would be as easy as possible. The home is tastefully decorated, spacious, comfortable, spotless, and conveniently located. We would all highly recommend!

Wonderful!

The home was perfect! Very clean and well-maintained in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We only had 9 of us but there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space while also allowing us to spend of time together as a group. Plenty to do for all ages. Amazing home!

I have rented homes for 30 years and this home ranks in the top 3 we have ever stayed in. The owner was very responsive to questions. The house is SO spacious. We were in town for the wedding of my daughter and the family stayed here. There was plenty of room and very comfortable for everyone. It is easy to find and conveniently located. We had a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this home!

phenomenal stay

This was the perfect place for our family and friends to stay for state wrestling in Des Moines! The basement is huge and we loved the ping pong table, huge sectional couch and pull out couch bed. Plenty of bathrooms with everything needed and we used the kitchen to cook two meals everyday. Nice living room and the dining room table was our hangout spot for cards and laughing! Will definitely book again.

We came in town for our son’s wedding with several family members. The home is beautiful! Very spacious, well-equipped kitchen and massive family room! We had a fabulous time!
