What a beautiful place to stay! The historical significance is amazing and the rooms were beautiful. Everything you needed was there…a nice patio and a restaurant and coffee place. We would definitely come back if we are in Douglas again!
Very nice. Quiet. Lovely room with old fashioned bath tub. Cable TV so able to watch football on Sunday.
Be aware that the restaurant and bar are closed on Sunday and Monday.
I stayed a second night with a different reservation and they couldn’t accommodate the same room, so I had to check out and recheck in. Historic hotel has a lovely lobby and extensive restaurant menu. However, the rooms are very dated and bathrooms very small.
When we arrived we loved the beautiful lobby with the Grand Staircase, gorgeous stained glass and lovely columns.
Checkin went smoothly and the front desk lady took us to our room using the elevator that can only be operated by an employee.
At 1st glance our Elite Suite looked fine, very huge! We left our luggage and headed down to the Saddle and Spur Tavern for a cocktail and something to eat. Jessie the bartender/waiter was amazing taking care of everyone and everything.
He made delicious cocktails and we shared a huge burger/fries that were excellent.
THEN!!!
We went to our room to settle in.
1st the tv kept cutting out and changing the cable channels then displaying “error message”.
Next the electric fireplace heater wouldn’t stay on or allow adjustments.
The Bathroom was the Worst!
I turned on the hot water to wash my face. It took forever to warm up and by that time the little sink was almost full to the top and water was going down the sink overflow drain and started leaking all over the floor at the P-Trap! It took forever to drain.
The sink wasn’t even attached to the wall!
Shower wasn’t finished being updated with flaking walls and worn out floor tiles.
VERY dangerous the threshold was missing and both myself and my husband almost tripped during the night to use the bathroom.
Another notable hazard was the bookcase headboards are not even attached to the bed and almost fell on us!
Many more things I could mention but the bottomline is the suite isn’t finished.
