Late flight, so driving to the property at 1am was challenging considering how dark it was but it was the woods. The check in process was smooth, the house itself was clean and a comfortable temperature despite the outside heat. Saw lots of nature. Deer, fox and even a mountain lion. Yes a mountain lion, lol. But it kept a fair distance away and steered clear of humans. The stay was great despite the rain. I only have a few small complaint/suggestions. WiFi signal was better outside than inside the cabin so Iâm assuming the equipment isnât inside. The kitchen was fairly equipped, maybe a better variety of pan sizes. There were 3 small pots and a skillet. Maybe incorporate a bigger pot and a second skillet. The TV in the green cabin could have been on a swivel mount for laying down in bed to watch. The shower is definitely set for people at least 6ft tall. Iâm 5â2 and struggled with the height of the shower head. Donât get me wrong, I definitely love to wash my face in the shower, lol but I donât like it to stay in my face the whole time. Another complaint was the condition of the grounds. The grass was really tall (tall enough for that mountain lion or rather large feline to hide) and none of the lights along the road around the living quarters were working. I thought maybe they were solar and just didnât get sun, but there were only a few on my entire 6 night stay. Overall a 4 out of 5 is well deserved for this little hidden gem in Driftwood. Will definitely be back!
What a beautiful & cozy little cabin! Very spacious & comfortable. The property and amenities were absolutely gorgeous. Myself & my dog loved it & we shall return!
While it wasnât the worst property, it also wasnât the best. The cabin was in the right location for a wedding I attended so that impacted my decision to stay here. It a quaint cabin with a comfortable enough bed. If you are concerned about safety and privacy this is not the place for you. There is no curtain on the front door. And anyone walking up to the door can look right in and see you in bed. There is nothing covering the bathroom window either and it is at eye level. The kitchen window also lacks a curtain or blind so you can see right into the cabin. Traveling as a single woman without a man, this does not make me feel safe. Please remedy this situation for future guests.
The property was good, but there were two things I wished were different. 1) There is no window covering in the bathroom which faces the road through the complex of all of the other rentals. I am a 5â10â woman and this was a huge problem for me!!!! If I was 5â2â, it may have been okay but I felt awkward and exposed. 2) We brought our senior, blind, small dog and the tall weeds freaked him out. It would be nice to have a trimmed area for potty breaks on a dog friendly property. Other than that, we loved our stay and will keep The Driftwoods in mind for future visits to the area!
The Driftwoods Green Cabin is on a large lot with other cabins, surrounded by thick forest. It was so quiet and peacefulâno vehicle noise, clean air, and incredibly green! The cabin had a comfy bed and sofa, with a TV, a squeaky clean bathroom and a full kitchen with everything I needed. The decor was the bestârugged Texas. I rented the cabin to give my dogs some time in nature. They absolutely loved our walks through the forest. I am definitely coming back.
The green cabin was nice. It is basically one big room with the kitchen off to the side and the bathroom next to the kitchen. The bed, couch, table, and "closet" are all in the main room. I say "closet" because there is not actually a closet, it is more of an open stand where you can hang your clothes with a couple of shelves.
Even though it was extremely hot (over 100 degrees each day) when we stayed, the in-wall A/C unit kept the room fairly cool.
It is quite a trek out to the property from any of the cities around but that means it is quiet and peaceful at night. Just know that you have to drive at least 15 minutes or more to get to any nearby city.
I do wish the kitchen and bathroom windows and the front door window had curtains. I ended up rigging up towels to cover the windows, but curtains would have been appreciated.
Shower was clean and we had plenty of hot water but showerhead was not great. It needs to be cleaned so that the little holes allow better water flow.
Communication from the property owner was timely with the door key code and what to expect clearly presented.
Overall the stay was nice and I would stay there again!
My husband & our two pups spent MLK Jr. Day weekend at The Drift Woods. Check-in was a breeze as the property owners gave us everything we needed way in advance. The cabin was so much cuter than the pictures show. The location is great and we got to both Dripping Springs & Wimberley in what seemed to be no time at all.
I enjoyed my weekend stay with my husband and our pup in this cute, cozy cabin. The property was in a beautiful, isolated location but still close enough to town to make getting dinner and shopping pretty easy. The cabin was clean and stocked with basic kitchen/bathroom amenities. I didnt cook while we were there, but there is a full sized fridge and stove/oven in the little kitchen, so you could if you wanted to. The bed was comfortable and there were extra blankets, which was nice since it was chilly that weekend. My only real complaint is that there were no curtains on the windows in the kitchen and on the front door. The front door window has a frosted glass pattern on it, but it does not extend to the edges and theres like a 2 inch rim around the perimeter that you can still see through. Since the cabin is all 1 big room and the bed is right in front of the door, this lets in a lot of light from the neighboring cabin and makes it feel a lot less private. We just hung up a towel in front of both of those windows, so it wasn't a big deal. The overhead lights and fan would also randomly turn themselves on repeatedly (not so fun in the middle of the night) but this can be solved by just turning them off at the switch instead of using the remote control (I wonder if remotes in neighboring cabins are on the same frequency and interfere with each other?). But other than those minor things our stay was very enjoyable, and I would definitely stay at The Driftwoods again!
The property itself was unique and it was a decent location if you want to be remote (was a good 20 minutes to a gas station). No TVs inside the cabins was a negative for us. The inside of the cabin was dirty, the shower grossed me out. If you can get past that then itâs a cool property if you have a group of people and want separate sleeping arrangements.
Perfect location for our extended weekend getaway. Everything we needed and quiet. There isnât a television, but we liked that. Itâs not fancy, but comfortable. The location was great for us as we planned visits to all our favorite places in a Dripping Springs, Driftwood, Wimberley and Gruene.
