Good location for a city break

We enjoyed our stay, unfortunately the lift was out of order which was inconvenient but otherwise the hotel offered all we needed. Overall the hotel was very ckean, however the room was rather dusty. Staff all friendly and a great location for visitibg Durham.

Birthday long weekend.

We stayed for three nights for my husband's 60th birthday. The hotel was great, clean and tidy and the staff were wonderful. I had booked a Deluxe room but we were upgraded to a superior room by the hotel before we arrived. The only downside to this was our room was in the newest part of the hotel (Riverside) and the lift to take us to the link walkway was broken which meant that we had to walk up and down four flights of stairs, two floors, which took it's toll on my arthritic knee.

Making up the room

Having your room made up every day is something you need to opt in to. If you are not asked at check-in, it doesn't happen unles you complain. Why not change the policy to actively opt out????? I'm sure that I'm not the only guest to complain about this.

It was amazingly spacious including the roomy bathroom. There was a fridge, lovely teas, and a safe, which were much appreciated. It was centrally located and very close to Durham University, making our visit with our daughter very convenient.

I had a comfortable stay here, and it was a fantastic base for exploring Durham. It’s the only hotel I’ve ever stayed at with a section of the in-room bin specifically for recycling, which I really appreciated. I found it difficult to alter the room temperature, but to be fair, I didn’t ask staff about this. Staff members were friendly and helpful.

Visited my son who also stays in the hotel whilst at work in the area. Great room , comfy bed, wonderful brekkie,great staff, happy hour from 4-6 , clean and tidy but hotel is a little tired. One negative is the £11 per night for car parking . Will definitely stay there again .
