We desperately needed to get out of the city and connect with nature! This was the perfect spot to relax and live on a ranch for a couple days! We feed the animals, went for walks, listened to the birds and capped off the evenings with a dip in the hottub.Great time!
Before booking, we were not aware that there was going to be other people staying at the property. The house is split into 3 "units", 1st unit was in the basement (the place we stayed), 2nd unit was on the top left half of the house and the rest of the house the owners residence. The basement unit smelled like dogs, which set off my wife's allergies (which we didn't know she had until after this stay). Also, a fyi, the hot tub in in the kitchen/dining room. Not a bad thing...but it definitely surprised us. There were boxelder bugs EVERYWHERE inside the unit, they were fly everywhere throughout the basement. It was gross. The owners three large dogs were barking throughout the night and we could also hear people walking in the unit above us all night. The location and views from the property were great. But would have been nice to know we were not going to be the only people on the property before booking.
This was a great location for our women's weekend away. Plenty of room for the 5 of us. Property tour, hike and living quarters were as advertised. Ed was an attentive manager and addressed our requests in a timely manner. Fire ban kept us from enjoying a campfire. If you're a light sleeper - consider earplugs if on the lower level (some noise/movement heard) overnight which is expected in a shared lodge.
Our family wanted to find a place to get together on the one year anniversary of the death of my wife to be by ourselves and share some memories. This place looked ideal when I looked it up on VRBO. It was every bit as good as we thought that it would be and more. The space is very large, even larger than it looks in the photographs. It takes up almost the entire downstairs area of a very large house. Even though we had seven members in our group, it didn't seem like we were right on top of each other. All of the appliances worked very well. The hot tub was amazing. The living room area was big enough for us to have our large get together. Each of us had more than enough privacy at bed time. The space also has heated floors which made a big difference on a day when the outside temperatures were in the single digits. The whole property has plenty of things to explore and do. We opted to ride a horse on the property. Ed Cody, the owner of the property, did a wonderful job of getting that event set up for us. Kudos to his niece for giving up a Saturday morning to rope and saddle the horse. Ed took a number of our party on an ATV tour of the property and pointed out the native American burial mounds that are on the property.Ed had to be best host for a rental property I have ever had. Good to his word, he had farm fresh eggs for us each morning of our stay. I would enthusiastically recommend this property for any nature lovers out there. It was a stay of a lifetime.
Beautiful location with a great Country feel. The owner obviously takes pride in his place and was very friendly. It's also set up to be very friendly for family's with kids and I will go back with my kids in the summer/fall.
I missed the part in the listing that this was 'part' of a home that was on the lower level with owner and his 3 dogs living above. They were up all night walking around - even with ear plugs in, it was difficult to sleep as the noise was right above our bedroom. Didn't assign us a security code to get into the home, so had to use the owners - not so secure. 3 big dogs that were let out when we were outdoors. I'm a dog person but I was weary of these 3. 1 of them took my arm in his jaw as we were trying to load our cars to leave. Pretty dusty in the unit as well. Owner was nice, but we wanted a quiet weekend away and not needing to tell him what we were doing/going each day. Won't go back.
Had an amazing long weekend with the family at Cody's Ranch. Between Ed and his stories (Ed is the property manager), the views, the horses, chickens, donkey and cows, getting to feed them, the horse riding lesson, getting to take my son on the ATV on the miles and miles of trails on the property, the campfires and having some fun burning some wood with some branding irons, it was perfect!
Dog doo everywhere. His 3 very large dogs tried to attack my kids several times. They need to be on leashes for sure. Host took my 14yr old on a crazy trail ride with no safty grear. While on trail ride host rode over native American grave sites and then joked about it. He told my 14 that iw he can tell everyone that he drove over 3 dead indians. Host said he was only going to show where trail begins which is 20ft from house. Dog stole one of my wifes shoes host didnt care. So now we are out a pair of shoes. Hot tub was cold. Host went to our fire pit started a fire and then waited at the fire for us to come home . He didnt leave our area until my wife asked if he planned on being there long because we wanted alone time. The whole point of going on a family vacation is to be with family . I would not recommend bringing your family to this place. For the money we paid it was not worth it at all
This is our first time here.. we highly recommend it , and you will not regret it because it is so peaceful. Many places to visit nearby and the views are incredible.
My husband and I rented this for a quick weekend away. It's in the downstairs of the on-site property manager's home. He was a super kind and helpful man! Very down to earth. We did not use the outdoor amenities but would have in the warmer months. The hot tub was clean and well maintained. It was very relaxing. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking your own meals.
The unit was very clean and very well maintained.
This year we chose Cody's Ranch for the location of our girl's weekend since we wanted a place we could stay over a few days and relax. This was the perfect spot. The view was beautiful at the top of a hill and especially in mid-October with the fall leaves changing. We loved having the opportunity to walk the property and interact with the animals they have; horse, donkey, chickens, and goats.
The kitchen was well-stocked with appliances and utensils and the hot tub a great way to wind down at night. My family and I highly recommend booking the Cody's Ranch if you're looking for a place out of the way to spend a vacation!
With has been the best experience ever! Our kids don't want to leave cried when had to run to store. Ed is amazing showed my kids alot an did alot. From dressing up cowboy boots, hats, an guns! Helping farming ! The hot tub was a hit so relaxing an smores over the campfire. Highly recommended! Kitchen was stocked with everything for cooking an this was just simply fantastic! Love love love every ounce of this place.
It was a great way to get away without the kiddos. The fire pit area allowed us 6 adults to relax after dinner. We followed the fire with hot tub!
Comfy beds, plenty of towels. The smart tvs were great!
We came to the Eastmen area to ride our side -by-sides, and this was a great location right on a County road trail to ride, and the home was beautiful, comfortable and lots of room for our group. Denise was so easy to communicate with and Ed was at the home when we arrived and showed us the living area and around the property. This is the lower level of the house, so there was some noise through the floor from the dogs and others moving into the upper cabin at night, but not horrible. We didn't have much time to explore the property or enjoy the fire pit and outdoor area, but would have been a beautiful area to enjoy a nice evening.
