Very disappointing

Room 6 was appalling, with stained carpet, damaged woodwork, peeling wallpaper, stained bed base (not even covered with a valance) and cracked floor tiles in the bathroom. The mattress was rock hard and no mattress topper was available. We asked for a non feather double duvet, but were given a single duvet only. We asked again the following day and were given a double duvet. The continental breakfast offering was poor, with only a croissant or one pastry, the only fruit was watermelon, and a poor selection of cereals, and few spreads for toast. The cooked breakfast was nice. The building and grounds are beautiful, but don't be fooled by the claim that the bedrooms are 'luxuriously refurbished'.

Hotel was very nice. Gardens beautiful. Executive room was lovely. Very quiet when we were there & no atmosphere so didnt drink at bar. Breakfast needed to be hotter because it was luke warm which was a shame.

A lovely place to escape from your busy life

We spent a lovely night at the hotel when visiting Liverpool. The staff was courteous. The room was tidy and impeccable. The view around the property was stunning. The property is located at a tranquil area surrounded by farms. We saw rabbits' family running around on the lawn.

Lovely old building in a beautiful setting. Our only complaint was two small room issues. There was a noise from the door when the nearby door to the landing was opened. The carpet was not fully stretched. These were pointed out to reception and will hopefully be rectified. We would use this hotel again.

Beautiful setting and lovely buildings. Room was good but stairs are a killer if on floor2 - I had notified about accessibility. Food was great and staff in bar were very attentive- both were excellent. Noisy room 22 - due to kitchen air conditioning right outside window - great after restaurant and bar closed. Would go back.

The hotel is a little tired and could do with some TLC. Tennis court and bowling greens have seen much better days, despite the grounds in general being very beautiful. Staff got our steak orders the wrong way round, and a range of other little things made this a very average stay
