Pure Colorado charm ✨️

I was super pleasantly surprised with this rustic gem on the river. The place was loved, cared for, and stocked good. I didnt get check in email but they responded right away when i messaged them on hotels.com and we checked in fine. Parking was plenty and it felt private and not snooty...there was rustic charm...my kind of place. It was just perfect to me.

Quiet and relaxing and cool spot to enjoy..

Comfortable bed, Clean, Everything as advertised. Very nice restaurant adjacent to resort. So lovely to be able to sit next to the Fall River and listen to the water flowing over the rocks. That would be the main reason to stay here.

Not your typical hotel/motel environment. Parking is limited and not clear. No front desk. Was sent a code to get in the unit. However, when I arrived, the door was wide open. I had to doublecheck to make sure I had the right room. AC didn’t cool the room. Booked for three people, only enough towels for two. Keurig did not work—tried multiple outlets. Did not expect to have to empty our own trash. We were there less than 12 hours, so didn’t see a need to contact the property about any of these issues. We figured it out. But for the price, we shouldn’t have had any issues. Room was large and would be nice for an extended stay.

Even though Nicky's Resort received an "excellent" rating at Orbitz (how did that happen?) it was old without any touch of class, at all. Furniture in smallish room was Salvation Army, 1985 vintage. Had to scrounge to find electrical power. No lamp at old desk with near-collapse desk chair. Have I mentioned anything "excellent" so far? Because I coudn't find one thing I'd call even good.

The location for Nicky’s Resort is great. It sits beside a river, has an attached restaurant, and is only minutes to downtown Estes Park and the entrance to RMNP. There is a small four-hole putting green, pool, fire pit, a small deck overlooking the river, and beautiful hanging baskets of flowers. The deck could use some sprucing up with new furniture, and the fire pit would be a great place to relax after a long hike if it had some comfy furniture. Housekeeping in our hotel room was lacking. The beds were clean and there were no bugs so we stayed, but the baseboards were covered in dust, there were crumbs under the microwave and behind the refrigerator, the shower was very moldy in the corners and the air conditioner spit out tiny black specks onto the bed the entire time we were there. The room definitely needed a deep cleaning. The price was good, and since we were trying to spend very little, Nicky’s fit the bill. Honestly, this place has great potential. If the deck were repainted, the furniture on the deck and around the fire pit replaced, and the room was cleaner, it would be a fabulous place to stay. As it is, I’d say it’s just okay.

I hate to say that this is a hidden gem because everyone will want to book a cabin! I planned a last-minute trip to Estes Park for the 4th of July and barely got a room. Nicky's has a mountain cabin vibe without the mountain town price. Our cabin was right on the river, and the room was rustic and relaxing. We did try the fireplace, which would be perfect in the winter. Check-in was easy as it is all communicated via text. This will be my first choice the next time I stay in Estes. The restaurant next door was really good too.

Overall we liked Cabin 1. It was a good size for our party of 4 and we appreciated the full kitchen. The beds were comfortable. We liked having a/c in each room. The views from the balcony were beautiful. The couch was thin and not very comfy. The other negatives were that we lost power in 1/2 the cabin the first night and therefore there was no a/c in one bedroom and no TV. It took until the next night for someone to come and restore power after 3 phone calls. Also, the pool was not open until the 3rd day we were there which was disappointing as we had an 8 year old and 12 year old with us and it was very warm. This was our first time staying at Nicky’s and I’m not sure we’d stay there again. There were definitely pros and cons but for the price we paid, it should have been better..

Did not feel clean

There were crumbs all over the bedside table and there was a big smudge of something brown on one of the towels. That’s what we could see. The beds were also uncomfortable and the covers were outdated. The floor was very creaky and the carpet sounded like there was plastic underneath it. I was so disappointed I ended up leaving after the first night because I felt so grossed out.

The property’s location is very beautiful and it is quiet. However, neither the heated pool was available nor there was bonfire. The property is not maintained well in terms of the rooms. Did find a few cockroaches. However, it is spacious and if you’re just going to spend the day out then it’s a good option to sleep at. Very near to the exit of the National Park. Check in, check out process is easy and you don’t need to meet the property manager.

Nicky’s resort is not a resort. It is a very old motel. Which in itself could be okay however the room assigned to us was filthy. It appeared that actually clean had not been used in a while. One reason we picked this “resort” was the outside sparkling pool. However the pool was in total disarray and unusable. It was end of June and it seems strange it would not have been in good working condition.we had booked for three nights. We stayed one only because we arrived too late to figure out something else. We left as soon as we woke up the next day. I contacted the motel multiple times and have received no response still. I would strongly recommend not booking this motel for anyone and especially if you have kids with you.
