Shame about check in

I do love this hotel but on this occasion we had a hour and half wait for our room to be ready, we did get a complimentary drink while we waited though and use of the spa during our stay but couldn't take advantage of this as we were only there one night.

Great stay but no perfect. Could improve

Good hotel! Very well located. Lovely staff. Clean & tidy. Great for a couple going away. What stopped it from being perfect: Heating in room kept going off (did provide portable heater on request. Complimentary water in lobby was often empty or there was empty glasses. Parking was £15 per night, that was a niggle of mine. Tv had a lot of channels which didn’t work. Even the basic ones!

Good service

Clean, comfortable but somewhat dated. Surprised to be charged extra to use leisure facilities, never encountered this before. Air con in room didnt work, but was given a small radiator heater. Was expensive for what it was.

We had a warm welcome. Our room was on the small side for a twin and there was a huge tv completely in front of the mirror! The bathroom felt recently decorated and was very clean. We had bad neighbours fighting during the night but the staff managed to sort the problem out after an hour.(3-4am!) Paige helped us with a misunderstanding over the swimming pool in the morning and we enjoyed a warm clean swim. The spa man was friendly. Paige gave us another room for our second night which was much quieter and we slept very well. We will return and hope Paige will be there to look after us again.

Everything was pretty average in terms of amenities, the room, beds and bathroom, nothing special, just did the job. Was clean enough. The corridor we was staying on smelt damp, as they was dehumidifying the corridor up from ours due to what look like flooding. During the night the corridors were loud with guests running and shouting. Car parking should really be included due to the size of the car park and available spaces but I guess it's an easy way for the hotel to make more money, especially at £15 per night. Staff were nice enough. Think overall standards in the hotel industry have dropped in general, and you don't really get much for your money anymore, this hotel is a good example of that, just feels like a room you stay in, nothing special. Location of the hotel is the best part.

I ordered 7 twin rooms but only got 5 (and 2 doubles). Appreciate that it was a busy weekend (rugby and football etc), but not ideal. Having said that, lovely staff and a really nice hotel

The best thing about this hotel is its central location - a couple of minutes of walk from the cathedral. The room was a little tired, with the most uncomfortable pillows you could imagine and despite increasing the heating via the aircon controls, it remained cold (the hallway and other communal areas were toasty warm). We ordered tea whilst we were waiting for our room to be ready. Interestingly, what arrived was a teapot with lukewarm water and teabag that turned the water to light yellow, no milk, sugar or even spoons. I had to go to the bar and ask for these separately 3(!) times. The room was clean but cold, the bathroom had a decent shower but the only place to hang your towel was on the back of the door. There was no hairdryer in the room. We tried the swimming pool (included in the stay for no additional costs). It was 1m deep, looked clean but it was not warm (not freezing either). Children over 5 yrs are not allowed in the opposite sex changing rooms- this is a challenge as you need to set up the locker with a pin and I doubt that a 6-8yr old can do that. The family changing room option is a disabled toilet facility by the gym reception desk. This does not make sense, how are you meant to change back after the swimming? Go wet through the changing rooms into the dry area and wait for this “room” to be available? This really needs to be reconsidered by the management. The bufet breakfast was ok, a reasonable variety of food but lacking the quality you hope for.
