The cabin was huge & cozy & we loved that it was pet friendly and they had the whole yard fenced in so our dogs could roam around! We arrived at dark and the winding roads & sharp curves were very hard to navigate & the map to our cabin was hard to read! The cabin could have been a little cleaner, the showers had hair and other debris in them & the sheets looked slept in we had to change sheets before we slept that 1st night!

Long Weekend Getaway

We absolutely loved the Lord of the Rings themed house! Beautiful view off the deck. The air hockey table and foosball table are a bit old but still fun to play on. We used the grill and fireplace without any issue. It was a perfect spot for a relaxing long weekend

Family winter getaway

Our stay at Second Breakfast was wonderful. Our children and grandchildren enjoyed the hot tub and we made good use of the fireplace. Certain areas of the cabin had not been cleaned and the dryer was not working properly but when we contacted property management, Carolyn and Sue worked hard to resolve our issues.to make sure we were satisfied. We would definitely stay at this property again because it was very spacious with lots of little extras. The other reason is because Property Management worked hard to make sure our stay was enjoyable. D. Casey

Best family cabin

This cabin has everything you could ever need with big and little kids! Endless games and space to play outside and inside. Our kids were too young to hike but the views from the cabin were incredible. Will definitely be staying here again soon!

A very nice time!

The house was really neat with many Lord of the Rings details and artifacts. We enjoyed the hot tub and many games in the downstairs area. We did not realize how remote the area was, but once we were at the house, it really did not matter. Approximately 45 minutes to Blowing rock on very winding roads. The house was well stocked-lots of kitchen tools/gadgets!

"Look! The mountains are waking up!" - Our 3-year-old

This was an absolute joy of a place. We had 4 adults and 6 kids under the age of 8 together for a family weekend. The kitchen had more supplies than expected (even coffee, which saved us when we forgot!) The rooms were quite comfortable, the views were incredible of the side of the mountain reflecting the sunrise, the drive up the steep paved road was fine in the day—may have been a little dicey at night or in inclement weather. The basement was stocked with games and activities that were PERFECT for kiddos of all ages. Air hockey was a favorite: there were even little stools available for the toddlers to stand on and play, just another amazing example of the attention to detail. There were a few friendly ladybugs and stinkbugs that joined the party, but they were harmless. Overall just a lovely refreshing weekend in the mountains. We hope to return soon! Tip: Bring a couple humidifiers if you're there in the winter. Like most places, the air gets dry from the heat/fireplace.

Perfection!

We needed a place to stay for a wedding weekend and this place was perfect! The basement area was perfect for our high school and college aged kids. The main level was perfect for my elderly grandmother and my mom. The upstairs was great for the rest of us. Everything we needed was there. The place was clean and very well maintained. Beautiful inside and out. The views were breathtaking. Anything we needed and forgot at home or needed to go shop for was already there. Thank you for opening your home to us. We will definitely return for a longer stay.

Serenity at its best!

Second Breakfast was way more than we had hoped for.based on the rental description. The owners have thought of and provided everything you could need and some things you would never think you need until you get there! The We have rented many vacation homes from the beach to the mountains and this was by far the best. Keep in mind that the neatest grocery store is about a 50 min drive one way, so plan accordingly!

Beautiful view - perfect for a couples weekend

Second Breakfast is a cute cabin up the mountain on the Leatherwood Resort property, and truly fits its theme. We stayed the long weekend there- a pair of couples- and enjoyed every moment. The cabin was clean, aside from the small caterpillars that find their way inside (which is not a sign of anything negative - it's just mountain living!) The kitchen is well stocked, the deck and porch are nice and there is even some nice space outside the walk-out basement! If you're looking for peace and quiet away from town, this is a good spot, but if you want something closer I would look elsewhere. It took us a good half hour to get from the cabin into town. Thanks for the stay!

Second Breakfast could be our second home

Perfect mom's getaway!!

A group of tired mom's had a fantastic stay at the cabin! We all needed this weekend so badly and the cabin had everything we could have ever needed! We did not go anywhere, besides a nice hike, the entire weekend. Talked, ate, hot tubbed, adult beverages, and rest! It was perfect!!

Incredible & spacious mountain cabin + hot tub with a view!

Fantastic property and resort. Very friendly staff, clean cabin with lots of space for 10+ people. Incredible views, lots of walking and horse riding trails. Very memorable trip for my family. First family ski trip (1.5 hr from slopes) and horse back riding as well. Several college kids said they were having the time of their lives. Oh, and the basement is also an entertainment room with foosball and air hockey tables. And if you like The Lord of The Rings, you'll be in heaven here!
