We came to celebrate our sons 5th birthday with a star party and while the observatory and sights were amazing, our âmini houseâ (as our son lovingly called it) was truly one of the best parts. We didnât know it was monsoon season so we spent a few hours each day sitting on the porch reading and playing while listening to the rain and it was perfect. The style, vibes, and comfort were outstanding. Also, this is probably one of the softest beds Iâve ever slept on. It was an amazing stay! 100/10 would recommend!
A wonderful, clean and quaint home yet again this year my stay was just perfect. Thank you for offering such great accommodations in lovely Fort Davis!
We came to Fort Davis for a weekend getaway to visit the area and McDonald Observatory. The property was as described and very comfortable. A broom would have been helpful to sweep up the tracked in dust from the yard. Another helpful thing would be either window shades or darker curtains. The sun shone in brightly through the kitchen and bedroom windows and I can see it raising the inside temperature in the summer due to that. The ac worked great and the house was very well supplied with the necessary items such as coffee, creamer and sugar as well as some basic cooking spices. Bed was very comfortable and the provided toiletries were nice. Very walkable to town. The lights from the nearby tennis court can be super bright if youâre trying to spend some time outside in the evening to enjoy the stars.
We loved spending our stay here. It was the perfect size for us for a few days. The exterior space for dark sky viewing was splendid. We truly enjoyed the coziness of the tiny house and trying out the various on- and off-grid services. I thought the bed would be too soft, but it was a dream. We would definitely stay here again.
We absolutely love this home! Weâve stayed 3 times over the last few years. Itâs so quiet and walking distance to downtown. The view of sleeping lion mountain as you sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch is surreal. The stars are so bright! Sigh it was so hard to leave. Everything you need is provided. The home is spotless. The beds are comfy. We look forward to staying again soon.
We had a lovely several days visiting Fort Davis and enjoyed our stay at the Casa Hermosa. Communication with Matthew was clear and prompt. The house was very comfortable for two couples and we enjoyed some time out on the front porch. Very convenient for our trips to McDonald Observatory and Davis Mountain State Park. Would definitely stay again.
This is one of the nicest places weâve ever booked on VRBO. Not only was it spacious, but itâs beautifully decorated and full of the comforts of home. The hosts were very thoughtful in their choice of amenities. The kitchen was a good size for cooking and there was a charcoal grill. The beds were very comfortable. And the water pressure in the shower was amazing. Best of all, Matt and Beth kept in communication leading up to checking in and made sure the heat and front porch light was in for our nighttime arrival. We are looking forward to staying on our next trip to Fort Davis.
Clean, convenient, quaint and rustic with modern conveniences. The mini-split air conditioners were excellent during the record setting heat, plus they have more of a soothing "white noise" sound than most HVAC systems. The cabin definitely had the "Ft Davis look which we like more than the "all motels look the same". We're not accustomed to the total technology reservation and check in system of VRBO as this was only our second time to use it. Comfortable beds, good air-conditioning and good shower which are the three main requirements for hot days in August!
We choose this location for its proximity to McDonald observatory. The home was small, but perfect for my family of three. Small counter space but we made do by rearranging some items. Very clean, had coffee and filters provided along with all necessary kitchen utensils and cookware. I originally choose this property also because it listed a pool. The property sold after I had paid and new owner did not list pool in their description. We spent one day at Balmorhea state park and thoroughly enjoyed the pool there. Had short drives to Alpine, Marfa also. I would definitely stay at Casa Hermosa again. Owner always immediately replied to any messages I sent to him.
The Starlight at Casa Hermosa is within walking distance of main street Ft. Davis. Depiction of house on line is accurate and everything was clean and ready when we arrived. Hosts are accommodating and easy to communicate with.
In Beautiful Ft Davis - convenience at a good price
Similar to every other place Iâve stayed in Ft. Davis. And less expensive. Functional, fully furnished (nothing high end/luxury) and comfortable. One bedroom with queen bed and one with double. My husband and I were fine in the double, though we have king at home. Mattress was good and linens very clean and new. Bathroom towels also new and fluffy. Full kitchen, which we didnât use except for refrigerator and coffee maker (not Keurig or pod). Owner provided the coffee. Water bottles in the fridge in the drawer. Nothing fancy here - but what I expect in Ft. Davis. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the shade, looking at the mountains and perfect sky. Two air conditioner split units in the bedrooms that got quite chilly once the sun went down. We were in Ft. Davis to attend the Prude Ranch camp rodeo on Friday. Btw, there are very few places left to eat dinner and the old drugstore lunch place is gone, but we had lunch at the Hereford Cafe which was great. Sandwiches are pretty big and very tasty. Light eaters can split an order.
I recommend the Starlight as a good place for a few nights, but donât expect the Ritz.
