This is probably a great place to stay for groups or families. For a single person, not so much. There is apparently a bunkhouse but it was closed up when I visited. There is one trail that goes uphill to a bench that takes about 20 minutes to walk and that’s it. More trails would’ve been nice. It’s a pleasant place but for the money and the rough drive on 3 miles of dirt road I expected something more special. I was there to visit Big Bend Park and it’s my own fault that I picked a place that is an hour and 45 minutes from the Chios basin visitor center.

Room was clean . It was warm , cozy and both cold and hot water running without any glitch. Location is a quite far from the Terlingua downtown though but the ranch is fully self supportive and has its own nice restuarant with nice great food options both for breakfast , lunch and dinner with reseanable price. Place is situated very next to beautiful canyons and lot many off-road gravel roads all around.

Do not look for luxury, but it is clean and comfortable. The Bad Rabbit is not a fast restaurant, but why rush, you have already driven 16 miles off the highway to get there. Food was very good. Sit on your porch, and look at the stars, the Milky Way and the Moon! Also, do not forget sunsets and sun rises around the appropriate mountains that surround the place. Solitude personified.

Our stay was great, staff was friendly and accommodating. It was a great perk to have a cafe on site that stayed open past 8. It was a very calm and peaceful stay.

Everything was amazing, the only thing is that, we are a chemical free family ( my wife is allergic to fragrance's and chemical smells) the room had a couple of different cleaning smells to it. One was the fabric softener and the other a bathroom cleaner. We had to air the room out.

It takes exactly 1 hour and 40 minutes to drive from the property to the Chisos Basin. The staff were all great and the restaurant served good food. The food at The Lodge was well-priced in comparison to Terlingua. My only complaint was the WiFi in the room. There is no cell service to the property. NONE. With spotty WiFi being provided any connection to the world is difficult This really is a big deal and not really acceptable in 2025. You can get wifi in the office or by the cafe so it's a fixable issue. The night sky from this location was beautiful.

Staff was able to help with late check-in and then when we had to leave a day early was very accommodating. It is a long way down the road to get to it but worth it. Rooms are nice (small fridge ONLY) but sitting underneath the mountains is nice. Bad Rabbit Cafe is right there and can get you anything you need if you're hungry. We had a great time and would stay here again. You can stay in Terlingua in the motels but you won't get the same experience.

Tucked away

It was me, my 5 year old, and our 9 month old puppy. Clean, quiet, comfortable cabin. Nice stargazing patio. Walk-in shower easy for all 3 of us to get clean after a long day of hiking. Bed was big enough for all of us and comfy. Restaurant on site had great staff that made us feel at home for diner and breakfast and the food was on point. Easy check-in and out process and a nice drive with great views.

Motorcyclists... Do not stay at this property unless you have a off-road bike. There is three miles of washboard, large, sharp rock road. The wifi only worked while sitting at the pool or in the restaurant. The pool water was freezing, even in 100 degree temperatures.

A nice rustic and pup friendly place to stay if you are visiting the Big Bend National Park or state park. The cabins/rooms are clean with the basic necessities... no frills. They have a nice pool onsite along with a great little restaurant serving up meals all day. Everyone on staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Be ready to disconnect or bring a good book, WiFi is spotty which is totally fine if you are out here in the first place (no cell service) we enjoyed ourselves!
