Situated just 4km outside of Funchal town centre, it is perfectly located for eating out, shopping, and sight seeing. Alternatively, relax by the infinity pool and admire the breath taking views over the Atlantic Ocean and Praia Formosa beach with its walkway to Camara De Lobos.

This modern second floor apartment is fully furnished, bright and airy, and comes with access to a fully equipped gymnasium, jacuzzi, and outdoor pool area. It has its own parking space, lift access, and west facing balconies off both the living room and bedroom, espresso coffee machine, and WiFi internet access. An optional single bed is also available for a child.

Vila Formosa gains its name from the beach below, Praia Formosa, which is the main beach of Funchal. The apartment has steps (many!) down to the beach where you will find three great cafes and open air restaurants and a 2km walkway (on stilts in the sea) to the fishing village of Camara De Lobos (also with great cafes and restaurants).

Super location. Comfortable flat with great views. Liked the high ceilings, so felt roomy. The building foyer is spotless with cleaners spotted frequently. We were picked up by their recommended taxi driver who called the keyholder Fiona who met us at the property when we arrived . This lady went be above and beyond and arranged an engineer to fit an android tv box so we could log into our Netflix account as we didn’t have Apple TV. Thank you guys for a great 30 day stay.

An excellent location for. stay on the island paradise of Madeira. Close to the beaches and the ocean front walk and on the main bus route to Funchal. Groceries and coffee shops all within walking distance. Owner and representatives were very responsive to questions and Fiona went above and beyond.

It was a relatively large, very well provisioned apartment with a great parkade. We were met by a rep at the entrance who showed us all necessary things - excellent contact with the host! Only deficiency was the hot tub was out of service (and by the appearance, has been for quite some time). Excellent stay and would recommend!

Great location

This property is in a great location. A great grocery store about 5 minute walk away and a great number of restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute walk. The promenade walkway is a short 5 minute walk to access but it is quite a few stairs and is a steep incline. Albeit most things are in Madeira. Overall a wonderful stay.

Great accommodation

Place was fabulous. Easy communication with natasha. Great area close to bars and restaurants and shops. Only small alterations with the keys. Only one set. You do need 2 sets of keys. Especially when checking out and someone else was picking you up. The key drop box needs to be up the main gate. Otherwise what a lovely experience. Views were outstanding. Thankyou natasha fab property.

Great Experience

The property is located in a quieter part of Lido but is close to two large supermarkets, many restaurants, and local spots. The sunset from the balcony is priceless. These aspects are probably similar to other reviews of this property, but for us, the most important thing was that we felt at home. Everything—from the warm welcome to the cleanliness of the house to the well-equipped kitchen—was just perfect.Thank you, Fiona and Natasha, for everything. See you next year! :)

Nice apartment in Madeira

We really enjoyed our stay at Vila Formosa. It is in a great location, close to many restaurants and shopping. A short bus ride to Old Town Funchal. The apartment is is well equipped and spacious. The beach is nearby and has a nice promenade to wander along. Our host ,Natasha, also arranged transportation for us from the airport to the apartment. We would definitely return.

Great view and location

Rented this condo for a month. Loved getting up every morning to a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean and the west side of the island. It is well situated in the west side of Funchal with good access to the bus to downtown. Can be walked as well. Area is mostly flat. Access to various spots on the island was easy in a rental car. The main East-West highways wasn’t far away. The kitchen was fairly well equipped with a large enough refrigerator, a stove top with oven and a dishwasher. The clothes washing machine likely needs servicing, sometimes is not quite right with the latching mechanism. Several dishes were chipped and should be replaced. Good services in the area with a good grocery store just up the street, cafe, restaurants, hair cutting, car rental. Really not lacking any amenities. All and all, we loved the place.

Generally lovely apartment and area

The pre holiday communication was really good with Natasha organising taxi transfers and answering all our questions, especially about the gym area which is quite important to us. There were a couple of things with the gym when we arrived, there was no working sauna and the jacuzzi that was advertised died a couple of days into our stay, after sounding extremely noisy across the whole pool area prior to this, also on the last day of our stay the gym was unfortunately flooded. The apartment was generally very good with everything you would need for a home from home experience, however some of the crockery could do with replacing as it was very chipped. It would have been nice to have a main door key each as although we travel as a couple we do sometimes go out on our own and had to prearrange being back at a certain time to gain entry to the apartment. The air conditioning in the bedroom was really good, there was also a portable unit for the lounge advertised but this didn’t work and the lounge was very hot without it. I contacted Peter the key holder about this and a problem we had with the main door lock which was very stiff, the day after we arrived. It was however eight days into the holiday before receiving a new fan and the door lock being fixed and key replaced. ( the lock was so stiff it had broken the key fob off trying to turn it). Overall a very nice apartment and location that just needs minor improvements and updating of the website to be totally accurate.

Madeira Holiday

The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The store was a short walk away. The bus can be easily accessed. Only downer was the construction work taking place between the condo and ocean front. They work long hours. But the weather was beautiful the whole time we were there. The people are nice and there's lots to do.

Two Months in Madeira

An amazing location with a spectacular view. The sound of the surf from Formosa beach just below the condo put us to sleep every night. A couple for minor maintenance issues were handled promptly.

Very comfortable apartment

Very nice apartment close to Praia Formosa with access to infinity pool, gym and hot tub. Pedestrian access from Estrada Monumentale using the roadway not easy with cases, but once inside access down to Praia Formosa or back up to the Estrada fairly easy via side gate by the pool.

The most spectacular sunsets ever!

We loved the location, approx 3 km from Funchal and a wonderful walkway west to a quaint fishing village Camaro de Lobos with cafes along the way. The unit was well stocked and comfortable decks overlooking the beautiful Atlantic captured are attention every night with breathtaking sunsets. The pool was very refreshing after a day of exploring.the beautiful island.

Amazing Views

We had an amazing stay, everything that we required of a rental property was provided. One point to note is that there should be more emphasis in the property description about the entrance to the property, 32 steep steps and a two section very steep driveway. The description mentions lots of steps down to the beach but doesn’t mention the steepness of the access to the property. We managed the challenge but someone older or with limited fitness would have struggled. Owner was very helpful when we were missing a key.

Lovely apartment, amazing view and great location

This was our second stay in this apartment and it was as lovely as we remembered - even better in fact as there have been improvements since our last stay (including very welcomed air conditioning in the bedroom). The views from the balconies are breathtaking, the apartment is well-equipped and the included parking space is fantastic. If you have a car, then the location is great for exporing the rest of the island - just a few minutes away from the VR1. However, you could happily stay here without a car. The bustop is right outside with a very regular and inexpensive bus route into Funchal and beyond. There are lots of great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
