Enjoyed hosting a large family weekend gathering a the house. The house was large and clean and the two separate living spaces worked out well. The kitchen in the main house was big and well-stocked. We loved the covered porch and comfy seating there. The pool itself is clean and large. There is only one ladder into the pool so it's not ADA or kid friendly. Overall, I recommend this for a large group getaway.
This place is perfect for our mountian biking team. We come every year for the event at Frlasco. The proximity to the social areas and the number of rooms is juat great for us!
Our stay was awesome! We had plenty of rooms and showers! We kayaked all day and when we got home everyone could shower and get ready for the next day! There was plenty of parking for our 2 trailers and numerous vehicles. Most of our meals we did at the house. The last night we went to The Top restaurant. That restaurant and others were in walking distance. Great house and if we are in the area with a large group we would love to rent it again
In Gainesville for a thirty-five year reunion with fraternity brothers. Eight of us stayed at the property, and enjoyed separate bedrooms and six bathrooms. Love the layout. Property in a quiet neighborhood, and not too far from campus. Looking forward to future reunions and hope to be able to secure this place again.
Spacious Home but Misleading Location and Some Concerns
We stayed at the University House for a family trip to a University of Florida football game. Overall, the stay was okay, but we had a few concerns. The listing advertises that the house is within walking distance to the UF stadium, but itâs actually a 40-minute walk (about 36 blocks), which was misleading and not ideal for game day. We also found a few roaches in the home, and the pool didnât seem clean enough to swim in. The lack of lighting in the parking area at the back of the house made it feel unsafe at night. While the house comfortably fit our large family, the layout wasnât ideal for us as it consists of two separate houses connected by a walkway, which made it feel less inclusive. On the plus side, the check-in and check-out process was easy, and the home could be a good fit for a group retreat, but we would have preferred a more modern feel for our family gathering.
This home was everything we needed for our group. It was comfortable and accomodated all of us together and allowed everyone to have space. Thank you for everything.
Lovely Setting and So Much Potential, But Fell a Bit Short
We enjoyed our stay. The house is in a lovely neighborhood close to downtown. The connected houses have plenty of room and some old Florida charm.
Different threshold heights and unexpected changes in porch heights, due to connecting the two houses, may be an issue for any who have mobility or balance issues. Highlighting the places where elevations change unexpectedly would help.
We were grateful that the house has wheelchair access so we could bring our mother there to visit. And the large pool was wonderful! Check-in and check-out were easy.
The kitchen could use a few more mixing bowls, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. Impressively, however, additional eating utensils and glassware were delivered just a day after I mentioned the shortage to a staff person for the host. She also delivered the deep pot we needed.
When we arrived the gas stove burners did not work reliably and the oven not at all. I reported this to the host's assistant and she arranged for a new unit to be delivered -- unfortunately not until the day before we left but for everyone to come there is a new gas unit
Finally, I don't know where host Nicholas was before, during, and after our visit, but he was non-responsive, except for some formulaic emails. At one point he said he'd contact me but didn't. He should not be the contact person. On the other hand, the two staff persons I dealt with, Michelle and Julie, were very responsive. Kudos to them!
Classic house that is very clean and well maintained. It is actually two houses connected by a breezeway. Property manager was very communicative. There was an issue with the stove top and oven not working, but otherwise it was a relaxing, pleasant stay! Definitely recommend this property!
I held an event here that was coordinated with the property manager. The property manager worked with me through some troubleshooting regarding the event; but, the property manager was ultimately able to accommodate my requests. The home was clean upon an early check-in which was much appreciated! Some of the rooms did have an odor to them, but I believe it was due to the house itself and not for lack of cleanliness. The space was awesome and worked out well for my event. Some of the plants and trees around the home are in need of trimming, but other than that everything else was as depicted. We really enjoyed our time and I would recommend this location to friends and family!
This was a terrific property for our large family to use for a family wedding in Gainesville. There was ample room, even though we had all the bedrooms filled. The property itself was beautiful and within walking distance of a number of restaurants. It was too cold for the pool, but it would have been a very nice benefit!
We had a great time at the house ! The two homes together were the perfect size for all the kids and grandkids ! We all loved the pool ! We were a little surprised that there was not place to grill outside ! Also not one extra blanket in either house. Overall I would recommend staying here !!
The home was perfect for our ladies prayer retreat. There were 17 of us and we all fit comfortably. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen was great for cooking.
We had a minor issue that needed to be addressed and Nick was quick to respond and send someone out to help.
Our group is talking about staying there again. Thank you to our host for helping us have a beautiful weekend!
Communication while there was great but we felt some things were misleading or not maintained. We gave list to owner as well.
*Dishwasher handle was falling off when we got here. And dishwasher isn't attached to cabinet.
* Return air filter in floor is completely dirty.
*Master sink is about 80% clogged, and faucet mounts are extremely loose. Shower doesn't drain well either. My wife said tub was too dirty to bathe in. I killed multiple bugs running across floor in there as well.
*There's not enough cookware to make a supper for a family of 5 (my wife made our salad in a pot because there were no serving bowls). And definitely not enough for a house that advertises sleeping up to 18.
* Pool was very cloudy, couldn't even see bottom in the shallow end.
* Pictures of pool showed a fence for more privacy, which is obviously not the case anymore so a little deceiving on website.
* Hall bathroom toilet handle was falling off...I hand tightened the plastic nut enough to work but prob should check it.
*Lots of trash under the porches (cans, bottles, bags, etc).
We've stayed in vrbo properties for 10 years, and understand sometimes you get different levels of upkeep, but this one was the bottom in our experience. Nothing that couldn't be fixed up, but needs to be done if you'd like repeat clients that aren't just here for a football weekend.
