Pulling up and seeing the unattended lobby w rental bicycles and bug on the stairs made me tentative. No working elevator either. However, the place oozes history and personality. Entering our third floor apartment was a complete turnaround. It was gorgeous! Being on the corner of the building gave us plenty of space and view. The beds were very comfy, seating was much more than adequate, water pressure was good, kitchen nice and well equipped. After staying a couple nights in another short term rental which was ok but was a single wide in the country this week, we felt like we were in the lap of luxury. I will definitely want to stay here in the future.
The good first. The unit was nicely remodeled & decorated. Spacious! I loved that it was an older building & that it appears to have original wood flooring & molding throughout. Very pretty. It was stocked w/ everything we needed regarding soaps & paper products. The host was very easy to contact & communicated well. Not so good. We didnât realize the elevator didnât work. The pictures we saw showed an elevator. Our mistake was not reading the descriptions on the photos. At arrival the elevators were blocked & we realized they donât work. Stairs normally wouldnât be an issue for minimal climbing. However we were on the 3rd floor. We were only there for 1 night however we had 6 large heavy suitcases we had for a cruise we were going on the next day. My wife & I are veterans w/ a couple disabilities. I was good to climb but she has knee injuries so it was slightly difficult for her. When we contacted the host they stated that the elevator not functioning was mentioned in the about portion of the page. I didnât see it. We caught 2 cockroaches when we opened the door. A bedroom nightstand was completely broken & falling apart. There wasnât enough towels & they were very small. So they got wet quick & not enough to dry body & hair. The blanket on the beds are very thin & didnât give much warmth. If AC was off it got too hot, but got cold at night while on & no extra blankets. Lastly the 2nd bathroom door would get stuck. It couldnât open from inside so someone had to open for us
First off you had to park in the street or find paid parking which was no where near the property. The actual loft was nice but it was on the third floor, which was not mentioned in the listing. We had my 82 year old mother that recently broke her back with us and there was no way she could climb those stairs. There was elevators, but not functional and apparently they havenât been for a while because there was furniture in front of them. When I reached out to the owner about our concerns and maybe getting a refund they refused and was very short and non responsive. We didnât stay there. Just walked in and walked out. You would think they would have at least offered to refund the cleaning fee. Very disappointing.
Perfect location for pre-cruise stay! Walk to the port!
My family of 4, plus 2 in-laws stayed at this apartment pre-cruise. Location is excellent! Many restaurants within walking distance. We ate just around the corner at Taquilos (delicious and happy hour all day!) Decor and furnishings were nice and modern. Great communication with the host. Best thing is that we WALKED 0.9 miles to the port. So easy. Only downfall of this place is no elevator so we had to carry all of our luggage up to the 3rd floor, but we are all able to do that, so no biggie. We'd stay here again! Easy check-in with key box. Highly recommend for pre-cruise!modern.
The location and character of the unit were great. Everything else was a miss. Both showers had black mold, washing machine was not functional and had been full of water for clearly quite some time as it smelled absolutely foul. There was no soap (bar or otherwise) in the bathrooms to even wash your hands. The freezer was full of rust so we didnât even want to use it or the ice. Clearly the management company doesnât care about guests or cleanliness, which is disappointing because the character and location of this unit have so much potential. Would not recommend a Beach Box property to others given their lack of attention to cleanliness or ensuring basic amenities that were described in the listing.
The location was great. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Apartment is spacious but in serious need of some TLC. Yes itâs a historic building but itâs not being kept up very well. Elevator broken and if you donât filter through the listing you do not know as itâs buried in it. This is a 3rd floor apartment so getting all luggage up 3 flights of stairs is rough. Pictures show a washer dryer in kitchen but when opened it had musty smelly water sitting in it. When contacting the management company the response was itâs not an amenity. So why show it in pictures? Place could be a solid 5 with some TLC but it seems like they are not wanting to take care of it. Also has bikes available for use but most were broke. With chains falling off. Overall for the price expected better.
We had a great time. It was nicely furnished and had a perfect location for enjoying time on the Strand. So many options near by and everything is walkable. We will definitely come again some time!
This apartment was close to everything. There is no working elevator. We had internet issues, but they responded to us within an hour to correct the problem.
Neat property. Overall, was pretty impressed. Apt 303 did not have working washer/dryer unit. Which would not have been a big deal but I had started a load which resulted in a load of wet clothes that I am having to wash at home when we get there. It also said it was a non-smoking building and it was very clear someone was smoking in the building when we returned from dinner (which is not something they would know about right away but was strong smell). Overall, we would stay again if given the opportunity, it was the right size for our family.
The communication with the beachbox was great! They emailed right away answering questions I had. The main entrance was a little confusing for us, but we were able to get in without any major issues with the communication from Beachbox. Parking can be challenging but we got lucky with a spot right in front of the building. The steps/stairs squeak a lot. The walls had either water damage or fire damage on one area but wasn't too noticeable. Main bathroom faucet was leaking but it didn't bother us. I just sent an email to let them know. We took a little walk to explore the downtown area with the kids and felt safe. We ate at the Mexican restaurant which was good too. We only stayed one night before our cruise and thought it was doable. You can hear the traffic outside.
We chose this location due to the availability of 2 bed/ 2 bath and many are not available. It is definitely unique, an older building, that being said be prepared to hear EVERYTHING around you. Walls and windows do not keep any noises out and we were lucky enough to be there the morning of trash day, 6:AM pick up. Both bedrooms had light shining thru windows from either outside or the building hallway so we had to make our own makeshift curtains. Cleanliness was not a top priority here either but all in all we made do with the apartment and started our day earlier than expected due to being woke at the crack of Dawn. We wonât stay here again.
Booked this for our family before taking a cruise. Enjoyed the convenience near the strand, spacious and plenty of room for 8. The only negative is, it is very loud on the streets below even though itâs several blocks from the strand. The walls must be paper thin because we could hear everything till 4am. None of the adults got any sleep. Other than that, great place if noise doesnât bother you.
