We did not get to stay here. We traveled 8 hours from home to find a dilapidated mess. Could barely get down the driveway due to all the brush. After stopping and walking the rest of the way around broken down vehicles and glass, I made it to the cabin. The owner said âlet yourselves inâ there was an electronic keypad on the door and I had no code. It was 6:30 at night. I couldnât find a fire pit resembling the pictures nor could I find a clear path down to the lake!! What a scam!! My family and I were left to drive 1 hour 45 minutes more to find a place to stay. And so far, Iâm still out my money. I even got charged an additional 25 for changing my reservation to add a Friday, because Friday was a premium night. I live in the middle of the woods with NO grass to mow so Iâm used to the woods, but this was nothing like the pictures. I canât comment on how the inside looked, because I never got in.
This place is perfect small cabin up north canât go wrong with this close enough if you need to go to some stores but still far enough away from everything. Definitely will be staying again.
Cabin needs lots of fixing up and cleaning. Leaks in sink area and under bathroom floor. We had to clean before bringing our things in. Outside area was just as bad. This place has such potential, it just needs some work.
Even after reading the questionable reviews, we decided to take a chance on this property. Shame on us! We did chuckle about a couple things; the grill didn't work so Cheryl left us a smoker with propane to use - but it used wood not propane; the bed was smaller than listed and not very comfortable, but we asked for rustic, so we didn't complain; the air freshener was too strong for such a small area, we just unplugged it. It was all part of the rustic experience. The next morning when we couldnât use the stove to make coffee or breakfast it became a problem. We contacted Cheryl who sighed heavily and told us we needed to use the clicker to light the stove. After going out for breakfast and spending time at the lake, we were ready for a shower and dinner but there was no hot water. We were no longer amused! We contacted Cheryl again (she was 2 hrs away and not on site) and left a day early. Cheryl texted me 24 hours later to accuse us of turning off the propane to the cottage, trying to 'pull something on her' and she had to pay for a weekend call to the electrician. I became insulted and angry and asked for a refund. I worked via VRBO who tried to contact Cheryl on several occasions. She completely ghosted both VRBO and me. We have used VRBO for several years and never had any trouble with any property or owner and had good reviews about us. I was completely frustrated and unhappy with this host and disappointed in our weekend outing.
Small, rustic cabin with close access to lake. Perfect for a fishing/hunting weekend. I actually took the trip for a creepy solo getaway specifically for Friday the 13th weekend and I loved it. Host was awesome and always responded to my messages and went out of her way to make the stay even more fun and spooky for me. Would definitely stay again but definitely not for everyone, as it is very rustic and best suited for smaller groups or solo.
Booked even though had mixed reviews, we understood was still in renovation process, even so grounds could be much better maintained. Beautiful scenery- but toppled lawn chairs, buckets, and rakes strewn about on shore line very distracting. Even if things were put in organized piles, would be more tolerable. The Owner was next door and very helpful with internet access and assisting with vehicle problem. The cabin was comfy and well equipped, with picturesque views from the windows. Weather did not allow use of some of best property features-firepits-canoeing and fishing.
This was the perfect get away. Home was perfectly clean. Everything and I mean everything was provided. Even a fire pit lighter. Our two pooches loved the lake and the property. Quiet and peaceful with wonderful neighbors. We will be back. The lake is literally a block away. I am booking my next stay for November. Thank you for sharing your property with us!
I needed a place to stay for a couple of days and liked idea of being on the water. The description is pretty accurate and the individual I talked to was nice. I agree this is meant for hunters/campers. It suited my purpose. I would encourage shades on the windows and cleaning the brush off the beach.
Tools and broken glass lying around, cigarette smoke
This cabin is much smaller than the pictures appear and has a very squeaky FULL size bed (not queen like listing says). Additionally, the main house is very close to the cabin & there are tools, trash, & broken glass laying all over the place, including down at the beach, which is very small, has a huge fire pit with partially burned items such as bed frames in it, & so many lily pads that you have to use the neighborsâ beach to go swimming. There is a strong smell of old cigarette smoke with a Glade plugin. My asthma immediately kicked in due to the smoke/perfume. Messaged the host we wouldnât be staying & she did respond quickly but only offered us back $50 of our several hundred dollar 2 night stay amount. The trees, lake, & ferns are very pretty.
The host was very polite and quick with responses. The property was not what I expected. The kitchen sink didnât work(I felt horrible leaving the four dishes we dirtied), the toilet leaked severely on the floor with the smell of mildew/mold, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Also not private at all as it sits right next to another cabin and the rustic cabin door was old so not very secure(rotting off the frame) left us concerned for our belonging and our dogs safety. The listing included a Wi-Fi hotspot but barely could handle one device which made work we both had to do difficult. We did not stay the two nights we booked due to all of these things. But if you are looking for a beautiful view on the lake for a rustic getaway this is for you.
Not clear communication with fishing boat to use. We were given wrong wifi password. Had to located the correct password. No toilet seat cover. A few other minor things but overall beautiful location, quite peaceful . You definitely need a grill. Next time a bigger cabin and a view of the nothern skies. Thank You
We plan on returning. Very good for value for money. Cabin was as described and great as a base of operations for out of doors adventures. Check in was a breeze. No weird musty odors and everything worked. Fridge was spotless and cold.
I was very disappointed with this cabin. I walked in a there was a very strong oder that was very unpleasant. I saw spider webs everywhere and spider's. The bathroom floor was soaking wet. The bed was super uncomfortable, i felt every spring in it. I am glad I drove my truck because I would have never been able to get down the driveway without it. I only take one vacation a year and i was so looking forward to this trip, but this cabin really ruined it for me. I left a day early because it was that bad. I really hope the owners take the time to make it better before anyone else wastes their money on it.
I booked this as a get-away for my husband and I. All I can say is this is more of a Fisherman's cabin/cottage. The road to the rental is dirt and has a large circle drive ( no rock) to park and carry your things to the cabin. We arrived after a long drive and stayed one of 3 nights. The smell was a combination of Mildew, animal, and body odor. It had a air purifier but couldn't keep up. My bags smelled like that for 2 days. The mattress was stained badly and sat on metal box springs. Very uncomfortable. The linens are wore out, the sheets are balled up and rough, the comforter is old, as are the rugs and they are stained. There is no mirror in the bathrrom to clean up , there was a mirror in the other room over the bed, but not convenient to shave and clean up. The lake was not easy to access due to leftover burnt logs and junk piled everywhere. The main house is very close to the cottage, and did have a grill to use close by. I would call this a place to PRIMITIVELY stay. I was highly dissappointed. We arrived @ 4:30 pm, and left by 6:30 am. Unfortunately we did not take photos, lesson learned.
If you are used to camping and roughing it you would love this place.
Great place to escape and wind down. Quiet, beautiful lake with good fishing. Loons at night, it was great. Also ORV trails are within a 1/4 mile and can be accessed from the cabin. Cheryl the the host showed us a "secret" passage to the next lake via her kayak and our canoe which was amazing! We will be back for sure.
