It's ALL about the view from the deck and front picture windows. The property/house itself is average and very inconvenient to get to from where you are permitted to park. Wagons and wheel barrows are made available to help transport luggage, etc. to the house from your car as you negotiate a very steep and winding sidewalk.
Views are stunning!! The cabin is not suitable for children due to the deck railing needing maintenance. The 2nd room is completely detached from the main cabin. The online pictures do not represent the current condition of the cabin. The cabin needs to be updated and deep cleaned! Sheets need to be changed for all new guests. Linens smelled and overall the cabin had a strong filth smell. The distance from where you're allowed to park your car is steep and long walk; making it difficult for handicap, elderly and drop off your personal belongings. Best to arrive before dark to find the cabin.
We so enjoyed this quaint and charming cabin on the water! Stunning views. Clean and cozy accommodations. We spent all of our time soaking up the sun on the deck absorbing the breathtaking views.
Our fourth vrbo this month (all others five stars). Beautiful views but property was not vacumed/swept. And no hot water first day despite remote troubleshooting with Vacasa and following instructions for on-demand w/h. Vacasa property manager contacts wrong in property manual. Spent multiple calls trying to rectify. TV brightness pulses despite turning adaptive brightness off. And heed warnings on steep 1 block downhill path and another block along the sound...difficult to manage with more than light luggage.
What a special place! So much wildlife floating by. Saw otters and sea lions and dolphins. Cottage is a perfect size for a couple and we enjoyed our stay very much. We will visit again, thank you!!!
When the tide is high the deck at this charming little beach cottage looks straight down into the water. The views of Rainier over the bay are spectacular. The interior has a retro feel with notty pine wood paneling and furniture from the 60âs. Thorouoenjoyed our stay and hope to return.
Beautiful. Such an amazing place right on the edge of the ocean. You feel as if you are in the water. We had a lovely cookout on the deck, saw playful sea otters, porpoise, and tons of birds. Kitchen sink overlooks the water view. Traditional west coast beach house, neighbors were both so kind. It's about two city blocks, from parking to the property, but worth every step!!
I feel very lucky to have booked this great beach house on short notice. I am a caregiver for my 64 year old husband. Our daughter stayed with him so I could take a much-needed break. It is a quiet, peaceful location with fabulous views that renewed my spirit.
We absolutely loved staying at this home. The views are spectacular and the house is cozy. My boys loved hanging out on the patio and the beach when the tide was out. It is a very special place and we hope to return in the future!
A really nice place, but some things to keep in mind
This is a really beautiful location in Gig Harbor and the house is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. There are a couple of things about this house that the potential renter should keep in mind:
- There is no direct car access to this house. You have to park up on the main road near the dead end and walk down. Some descriptions say it only requires walking about a "block," but by our measurements it's about two city blocks. Not a big deal if you're in reasonably good shape, but don't plan on bringing a bunch of luggage.
- Related to the first bullet, you'll find that nearly every house on this stretch has wheelbarrows or carts outside or on their porch (for hauling luggage and other supplies). The owner or property manager of this house would be well advised to make sure something similar is available for those who rent this house.
- Lights outside the house on the deck don't seem to work
- Lights on the walkway to the parking area are hit and miss. Don't plan on walking to/from your car at night unless you have a flashlight. The house had several flashlights in the cupboard but none had batteries.
- The supplied WiFi is extremely weak. It won't even work on the outside deck, let alone the bunkhouse out back.
If you keep these things in mind, this house could be a wonderful treasure for you. We really enjoyed our stay here!
The house is not for people with mobility issues as the walk from the car is steep and circuitous. Also the pull out sofa bed was broken when we were there and could not be used as a bed. However, when you sit on the deck or in the living or dining room or bedroom and look at the view you feel very lucky to be there. We enjoyed our stay at this cute little house. The manager was also very responsive, although there was nothing she could do about the broken sofa bed during our short stay
While it is true that it is a bit of a hassle to unpack, given the street parking and walk, it is completely worth it! We loved everything about this house. The view was amazing. We had everything we needed. Hope to be able to stay here again!
The house was cute and comfortable and had everything we needed. Our favorite part was the porch. When the tide was up, we'd have our coffee and beer with the sea lions, seals and gulls. We even saw a bald eagle catch a fish right in front of us. During low tide we walked the beach looking at shells, rocks and pikes of driftwood. The walk between the parking area and the house wasn't bad at all, but we had pretty good weather while we were there. I can see how this wouldn't be much fun if it was raining, you had a lot of luggage or groceries or if you weren't in decent shape. The only complaint we had is that the listing states that there is a wood burning stove, but guests aren't allowed to use it, which you don't learn until you check in and read the binder. The heater was more than sufficient to warm the home though.
