Lovely old stone hotel. Enjoyable evening meal. Cooked breakfast was delicious, cold buffet breakfast was very sparce glad i had the cooked breakfast. Lovely 4 poster bedroom number 35 great bathroom. Friendly staff.
The room facilities werenât great. The unsecured Wi-Fi doesnât pass cyber security measures and there was no effective mobile signal. The TV and radio channels were extremely limited to only BBC, ITV, And C4/5.
The room wasnât hoovered during the stay.
Power sockets were hidden behind tables so charging phones was difficult. The shaver power socket was dead. There were no tissues in the room.
Given the lack of facilities, it was a challenging stay for a solo traveller (two of my four nights) and it made planning the days out harder.
It would have been useful to have more details about what was going on locally - including that the very nearby English Heritage Roman Villa was closed but the local area was great.
The staff were ok - not massively friendly. For a Greene King property it was either sad or amusing to overhear them heavily criticise Fullers pubs.
It felt like the property was more orientated to weddings and events rather than stays.
The food was a tad expensive for what it was.
Did nkt stay as either Hotels.com blipped on sending confirmstion or the Royal Georve missed the confirmation emsil onThursday when I booked it.
Advised on Saturday nothing received from Hotels.com .did not want to stay elsewhere.
Waitibg for afvice from Hotel.
