The entrance hall smelt strongly of food. One room had a loud buzzing noise in it when we entered. Turned out to be the wall mounted combined hairdryer/shaver socket, which wasnât near a mirror, so badly sighted.
While the room had tea/coffee facilities, all double power sockets were badly located so difficult to use. The kettle had to be used behind a bed on the floor and a second kettle base was present for that!!
The bathroom mirror was hung by one hook only which was totally inadequate and at risk of being knocked off if caught when drying yourself. On investigation of the security of the mirror, live wires were found behind, made safe only by an electrical terminal block, which had exposed live parts!!
The other room had a damaged blind which didnât shut the light out and was on the ground floor. In addition, 4 beeps were heard every minute throughout the night. When this was raised to the member of staff in the morning, the response was âoh yes, it has been doing that for the last 2 months!â
On the morning of the first full day there was no hot water available to either room and to other guest rooms. . As of 1200 on that day the hot water had not been fixed. It was working again by 1900.
Other issues identified included no hand towel provide, missing toilet role holder and sharp wall fixing, windows that didnât sound like they were closed, poorly fitted door furniture and limited car parking.
