The view was unreal, it was peaceful and lovely. We went right across the street to public river access and cooked a huge dinner in the little kitchen and used the BBQ! It was a perfect birthday weekend.
House and cabin were nice, clean and the kitchen was well stocked. My one suggestion would be to trim the tall bushes in-between the deck and the river. If you are sitting in the deck chairs, you can't see the river because the bushes are too tall.
The property is wonderful. The views are great and it is nice to be so close to the river. The landscaping is also really pretty. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could need. Though the house itself is a little run down, it is very comfortable and inviting. The biggest issue we had was that the water sometimes came out in only a little more than a trickle, making it harder to wash dishes, shower, etc. It did always work though, so as long as you have some patience for that and aren't looking for a sparkling, brand new looking property, this place is perfect.
The property and location are fabulous. We had everything we needed in the house and once we figured out where the grill was it went even better. It was cozy. My only complaint is the door out to the deck needs weather striping or a door draft stopper. The only reason I gave 4 star that I did, was I was asked to get in touch 48 hours for early check in, I did and heard nothing back. Other than that our stay was wonderful.
Cozy inside, and we could hear the sound of the Skykomish River all night and day long. It rained the whole time, and we were happy as clams, reading, singing, eating and walking in the woods. A real retreat for us. A very nourishing stay.
stay after
Had a great time relaxing by the river. The sounds of the water were extremely calming. A much needed respite. Place was cozy and was just what we were looking for.
Overall the view, the yard and hot tub made up for the little things. We spent most our weekend out on the deck and noticed it needs some TLC. Our 1 year old got splinters and scraped up and the board right when your about to enter the house is broken. We were really disappointed that the path down to the river is overgrown and you have to crawl over branches. There is ac in the main house in bedroom which was nice. But unfortunately there were spiders everywhere inside and dead bugs
and cobwebs in both main house and other little cabin. The blinds were missing on some of the windows and one set of blinds fell on my head when I was trying to lower them. We felt like the cleaning was mediocre at best. The rug in the living room smelt of urine. This place wasnât the best but wasnât the worst just needs some extra love and a good deep clean.
Great view, hot tub and facilities in general. Both cabins are great. The only negative that we could come up with is that the blinds need replacing, at least in the main cabin; some of them are bound up or broken, and you'd hate to miss any of that view!
Cute pet friendly cabin overlooking the river with view of the mountains
My husband and I and our pup spent a long weekend here. It was comfortable and such a welcomed getaway. The cabin was clean, easy to get to and had super detailed instructions. Will definitely stay here again!
Our stay was amazing! Quiet, relaxing, and beautiful views. The cabin was clean, cozy and well stocked. We felt right at home. Enjoyed time in the hot tub and in front of the fire place. The furnishings were in great condition and Christmas decorations were a very special touch!!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at JayBird Retreat. The proximity to the river, views of the cascade range from the balcony, perfect hot tub scenery, all made this so relaxing. This house might be small, but itâs cozy for a couple looking to escape the city. We had everything we needed.
We loved our stay at this property! The two small cottages were very comfortable and warm in the winter, and the hot tub was a dream!
Highly recommended!
4 of us stayed at the cabin for a long weekend and it was a great spot! The main cabin is nice for hanging out and relaxing with a gorgeous view of the river. The kitchen is incredibly well supplied and made preparing meals easy. The beds are comfortable and everything was very clean and cozy.
So relaxing! Itâs exactly what we needed. The views are better than advertised, the house has everything you need and the area is perfect for a small getaway. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.
My mother and I had a lovely stay at this little cabin on the river in Gold Bar. We saw the bright colors of fall foliage, the sunrise over the foothills and reflect off the river, a full moon rise, and after a hard rain with whipping windsâa rainbow break out from the after rain mist. We were fortunate to see 3 bald eagles among other impressive birds. The deck sits right above a bluff. The river isnât easily accessible but the view is amazing. The sound of the river is amazing. I kinda wish they had screens on the door or window so I could open the door and let the sound burst in. The house is relatively quiet all closed up, which is probably a benefit for those who need that. The house itself is small and clean and cute. The livingroom has a futon like couch that folds down for extra company (but doesnât necessarily make for comfy seating-probably my only complaint). My mom slept in the main house and I slept in the studio. The studio is super comfy and with the little kitchenette one can make morning coffee and go back to bed. Internet is strong in the studio too. Thereâs a full bathroom (shower) too for a nice separation. The main house has a small but well equipped kitchen. Hopefully theyâve replaced the can opener:) They have a small microwave so if youâre looking to heat up full-sized meals that probably wonât work. But the stove and oven are great. Made homemade pizza one night and a pasta dish the next night. Itâs just an easy place to be. The property management company was terrific! They accommodated us when we had a scheduling emergency (Iâm sure they canât accommodate all the time but they could and did). I highly recommend this place for small families, couples, small groups.
Small but very comfortable and well-equipped cabins. Both have been well taken care of and the main cabin has nice furnishings and is very clean/fresh despite being dog friendly. Spacious deck with glorious view and also nice native landscaping with lots of little tables, chairs, benches, etc. provide for very nice outdoor space. Well-stocked with TP, paper towel, dishwasher soap and hand soap, trash bags, towels, etc. which was appreciated and we were also pleased to have recycling available. It is in a somewhat dumpy neighborhood, but the property itself feels like a private little piece of heaven and the houses on either side are well-kept. No river access from property, but there is a nice trail to Big Eddy Park. Overall, the four of us had a very, very nice time and the two-cabin set-up worked great for our group.
