Honest Review: If you’re looking for a very rustic, simple cabin-type experience isolated from the nearest towns, then this might be fine for you. But we did not feel that it met our expectations at all.
Be warned - although the listing says it is in the town of Gualaceo, it’s actually 40 minutes from Gualaceo and 30 minutes from Cuenca, kind of in the middle of nowhere. The property itself is very hidden and hard to find. And it’s up a very steep hill that our car could not climb.
The space has some basic furnishings - mostly simple wooden tables and chairs in relatively average condition. The beds were cheap and uncomfortable. The drinking water provided was dirty. And there were only 4 towels despite “accommodating” 13. The electricity and plumbing is poorly done and dangerous.
If you want to use the jacuzzi or hot water for showers, you have to call the owners four hours before so they can turn on all the equipment. And they were not always available.
The owners called us too much and when they weren’t available they said we should have given them more notice. And when we were leaving they accused us of taking a towel (which they later found on the bed, after saying they would charge us for it if they couldn’t find it).
Overall, poorly maintained and managed property. This really shouldn’t be an option on Vrbo or Expedia.
