I reserved a superior king room with a terrace but got a room with double beds and no terrace. The front desk staff member checked us in as if there was no issue and then told us as she was handing us the room key that they didn't have any king rooms available. This was not a last-minute reservation where I should have to take what I can get. I was looking for a go-to hotel in Guatemala City since we travel there often. As a result of this, Barcelo won't be it. The hotel is clean and well-maintained but a bit dated. The breakfast buffet is a great perk.

After a very frustrating and long drive, I was given excellent service and even treated to a complementary nonalcoholic beverage at the piano bar plus another beverage at the sports bar. The staff were friendly and kind.

I couldn’t recommend it enough. The property is really nice, very well located and very comfortable beds. Every night they came to close the curtains and left us 2 chocolates with a note wishing us a good sleep. When we arrived, because of being Expedia VIP, we got some refreshments and snacks from the mini bar for free as well as 2 additional bottles of water (they give you 2 bottles daily). On our last night, we received a letter from the manager inviting us to a free buffet diner at their restaurant. That was a really nice detail (food was great). I will definitely stay here again
