The property had a great layout for a multi-family/multi-generational vacation. It was also directly across the street from the public access boardwalk, which made getting to the beach with little kids extremely easy. You can walk to both pools from the property. The owner sends a multi-point rulebook after you reserve, stating, due to the property's "remote" location, they have exterior security cameras. The property is in a busy subdivision, cameras on every level (facing inward) which created a sense of surveillance. They emphasize steep fines (i.e., 1000/occurrence) for violating rules. We are rule followers, but feeling like you are being watched makes it hard to relax. We reported several issues upon check-in, including no wifi (some guests needed for work), unusable grills, dirty hot tub, broken banister, etc. The host uses an AI chatbot for customer service, which responds with auto-replies saying they will get in touch with "the team". We texted, called, emailed, and messaged through VRBO over multiple days. After a power outage and broken washing machine complaint on day 4, we did get a response, and those two issues, along with the wifi, were resolved. The other issues were never addressed. Overall, the house has deferred maintenance. Linens are old/uncomfortable, rug edges curled (tripping hazard), upper balcony furniture rusted/unusable. Community amenities are worn (tennis courts torn, basketball hoop broken, pools not heated during our stay).
