Further south, Dunwich (5.5 miles) – known as ‘Suffolk’s Atlantis’ because of the 13th-century storms that swept away most of its buildings – has a huge beach and the Heath, an area rich in wildlife. RSPB Minsmere (8.2 miles) offers more encounters with nature.
