Loved the history of the property & the staff was over the top helpful. The room on the other hand was not comfortable. The chairs, bed & linens felt & looked in need of cleaning. There was what looked like makeup on the pillowcase. We actually went to our event, packed up & left & didnât stay the night. The house is very nice overall, I would recommend upgrading the linens, & chairs in the rooms.
We absolutely loved our weekend at Blythewood! It was beautiful. Perfect weather. Ipha, Lloyd and the chef were all so friendly and welcoming. We had a large downstairs rooms. Access to kitchen was a plus! Will definitely stay again. We also enjoyed all the local restaurants and antique stores in the area. Our Mimosas and quiche brunch on Sunday was perfect.
Property appears a little run down at a first glance. But it a couple hundred year old plantation house that is mostly un restored. Ion itâs own right itâs absolutely beautiful! The staff is excellent, hospitable, humble, and make you feel truly at home!
The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The Princess Room was missing light bulbs in each fixture in the bathroom making it difficult to see, there was hair on the shower wall, and no soap in the shower. We were told we could ask for anything we needed but couldn't find any employees as there is no front desk. Employees very helpful and friendly when we did see them. Would definitely recommend, and would stay again.
The moment we pulled up, we were greeted by Hope. She called my wife & I "King & Queen". This was a last minute booking, but that did not matter. We like old houses and Blythewood Plantation did not disappoint. The home was beautiful, well maintained and furnished with many antiques and personal items from the owners. Each room is decorated with a theme meaningful to the owner. Blythewood is conveniently located, just a few minutes from the market we came to visit. Hope fixed us an excellent breakfast. I highly recommend staying here if you looking for a place in the area. The price was right also!
Loved the old plantation feel and furnishings made me think of my grandparents home. We had the best hostess, Hope, who was always pleasant and available for all our needs. Really enjoyed our stay.
Such a wonderful stay. Ms Ipha was so kind and personal over the phone, and Mr Lloyd was so nice to greet me and chat once I got there. Will certainly return very soon!
Wow. Absolutely one of the coolest places Iâve ever stayed. As a northerner, I took a trip south to see how the other half of America lived, and no place captured âsouthern hospitalityâ like Blythewood. The staff were so kind, the rooms were cool, (though if you get creeped out by dolls and masks I wouldnât pick the Mardi Gras room!) and the property as a whole felt historic. Not to mention the home cooked breakfast was delicious. If I ever find myself down in Louisiana again, I will be staying a second time!
If you enjoy finely furnished historic homes Blythewood is a gem. The rooms were beautifully decorated and comfortable. The relaxed southern hospitality of the grounds and people made this a comfortable experience.
The service by Trisha was very good. Unfortunately our last night there we saw a large bug in the room above our bed. I was unable to sleep and left at midnight for a 5 hour drive home. I havent heard from them after my stay.
Wonderful staff that was very friendly and accommodating. We loved the charm of the house and breakfast was great. We found a hidden gem in Amite City.
Nice people, we stayed just after a large wedding with some trash and used items still around the place, excellent breakfast, Mardi Gras room was nice, no cable, Netflix and Hulu, porch overlooking the yard is a great place to sit and watch, historic home, 2 roaches - in in room 1 in hallway
