A little further away from where we wanted to be but good value for money and worth driving too. Nice cafe on site for breakfast with very friendly staff.
The room was cold and the heating would not rise above 19 degrees
The bed was hard
Toilet macerator is very noisy
Access road to the hotel is very narrow and
If not careful you could end up in the river Lea
Amenities. I arrived about 15.30, intending to eat at the hotel - only to find the club house was closed until 18.00 because of a function. I'm told this often happens, and imo the club house restaurant was too small for the hotel. I don't drive, and the walk to the village to get food would not have been safe if it got dark.
Nice hotel, but difficult to get the temperature right in the room and the curtains were so thin that the flood lights from the car park lit up the bedroom also! Please put black-out curtains in your bedrooms!
Staff were fine but the hotel was poor. No internet in room. A shower that was so small and the TV where you needed a degree or a lot of patience to operate. Wonât be staying again
I booked into the hotel due to free parking the availability of a bar and restaurant. I was disappointed to find there was no bar or restaurant but a cafe that stopped food at 7.30pm and closed at 9.00pm. The cafe was a 10 minute stroll from the hotel reception, which is fine if its not raining and blowing a gale. The room was adequate and clean but only had one chair in a double room. I feel the hotel needs to make it clear to clients that the facilities are a let down
Bare bones hotel, inconvenient setting, nice folks but the property hasnât been updated since Thatcher was in office. Bad smells throughout. You get what you pay for.
Room was clean, but showing its age. It was on the small side, but big enough with all the facilities required. What we particularly liked was the french windows opening onto a small seating area, beyond which was the carpark. We used this as our main entrance and exit to the room. Very convenient. We can imagine this being very pleasant in the summer. The marina also benefited from a cafe/bar on site, serving simple pub food and breakfasts.
