Stay at the Harrisburg Motel 6

We were traveling for medical care. The hotel was convenient to UPMC West Shore Hospital. It is an older hotel with efforts being made to update it. Part of the room had been painted but rather poorly. There was mold/mildew around the bathroom fixtures and bath vent, that appeared to not be working. There was plaster dust on the hair dryer in the bathroom and on the floor and dust on the heater/ac unit and pieces for plaster under the unit. The beds and linen were clean, and the bed was comfortable. The key card stopped working and had to be reprogrammed for the second night. Upon checkout I was met by a staff member in the parking lot who took the key card and escort me to the lobby. At 7:30 AM the lobby was still locked. The staff person placed the key card in the pass through tray and that is where I completed the checkout. The clerk was not able to provide me with a receipt for the stay. The price was reasonable and met out needs for this trip. The service was very basic, not even coffee in the rooms or lobby. Should we have to do this again I would check out other motels in the area.

We booked 3 rooms. Two of our families had to find another hotel due to cleanliness and the other couldn’t even get into their room. Our room had 1 towel available which was dirty, and mold on shower curtain and shower rug.

The motel was ok for the price. But the rooms had old rundown AC heat units that didn’t work very efficiently and were very noisy. And for newly renovated rooms whoever did the work was a hack paint on the trim and outlet and switch covers. But again for the price it wasn’t bad if you are just looking for a place to sleep and shower.

The bedding was stained. The toilet paper holder was broken. Mold in tub and sink. I asked for non-smoking and ended up with someone next to us smoking on her door step. We couldn't get the tv to work and someone came and got it working, which was the only good thing. We later dicovered the remote wouldn't turn it off and it had to be unplugged.

We have stayed in many hotels across our country and in Europe. We came in later in the day and had to meet someone in Harrisburg. When I got back to the room I was so tired and almost cried when I realized just how awful the room was. I took a series of pictures that I will gladly share with you. I'm thinking of putting them online. The room stank of cigarettes even though it was supposed to be nonsmoking, one of the pillows didn't have a pillow case on it, there were stains on both bedspreads, in the bathroom the ceiling above the tub was flaking in large circular spots and falling into the tub, we had ONE washrag, one towel and two hand towels, the smoke detector cover was missing and wires were hanging down from it ....... therefore there was no functioning detector which I'm sure is a safety violation. I could go on. We slept in our clothes with our jackets as the "blanket". I would NEVER recommend Motel 6 to anyone. As a national chain you should be embarrassed. I'm sorry but but I'm being completely honest. I have the pictures on my phone to prove it !!!!

Toilet did not flush completely until 4 or 5 flushes. Broken furniture, dirty refrigerator and bathroom was in very poor shape. No coffee maker and ons towel for 4 people,
