We sought a North or East Shore vacation spot with ocean views and booked this property. Initially concerned about its age, built in 1975, and highway-facing exterior, we discovered paradise on the other side.Our unit had 1 bedroom (which had bunk beds we didn’t use) and a main living room where where we slept. It was a large unit with plenty of space - a full kitchen, washer & dryer and a bathroom with shower. 24-hour security and a special fob for the elevators ensured our privacy.The crown jewel is the balcony, the view, and the beach below.‹A large balcony with views that stretch out to sea. We spent hours each day on the beach— morning, noon, and night. It was wonderful having such easy access to this beautiful beach. We love to snorkel, but due to the waves this time of year, we’re limited on Oahu on the east and north shores to safe spots. However, Punalu’u has an offshore reef that takes the force of the waves so that smaller, safe waves reach the beach. There still were several spots with a number of beautiful fish, and we absolutely loved swimming (a safe distance) from the green sea turtles that frequent this beach.While not necessarily the “Ritz” in terms of architecture or resort amenities, this property has such a beautiful location with a beach that allows an idyllic Hawaiian vacation.

It was great. the access to the beach was great. The location was great for many things we wanted to do. I would recommend adding a few more kitchen utensils like a whisk, wooden spoon and more forks. Beds were comfortable.

The property and condo are stunning, and we loved the immediate access to a wonderful beach just steps from the condo. Although we did have a couple of issues arise, the host was quick to respond, and addressed the problems timely. 5 stars for sure!

We loved the view it was beautiful! There was some construction but they refunded us 15% for it and it wasn’t a big deal. It was well compensated. Multiple nights we saw 25 sea turtles sleeping on the beach. It was pretty magical. We saw many as we snokled as well. There was pretty good snorkling to the North side of the beach. The beach was quiet and really close to food trucks and the north shore. The AC was really nice.

The view is amazing!!! Can't really get any closer to the water for the price point. We traveled with two of our adult kids who shared the bunkbed room with each other and they said the beds in there were super comfy. Our bed in the living room was doable. Loved that the unit had AC and even a few extra fans which kept the place nice. We didn't actually cook any meals but the kitchen seemed decently stocked. Nice to have enough bath towels and TP waiting for us without having to run to the store first. Parking was great and checking in and out couldn't be any easier. Communication with the host was fast and always pleasant. The beach in front was nice but not that great for snorkeling if you are expecting to see a lot. Did see a few turtles swim by when standing on the balcony but not any while in the water or on the beach. Kaya's Kitchen is within walking distance for breakfast, lunch and dinner and pretty good! Seems like most of the food places nearby start closing at 5, 6 or 7pm. If you're hungry after that, you can always eat at 7-Eleven. Haha. If you see a sign on the road for fresh sugar cae juice, stop and get some. That was delicious! The Butter Mochi at Ching's Store down the road is yummy and highly recommend. The clerks in there are great! All in all, we loved the location and prefer the countryside of the North Shore over Waikiki any day. Gives the relaxing vibes of island life. Did I mention the view was amazing?! Haha! Will definiately be back! THANKS!

Perfect Beach Location

Can’t even say how awesome this location is! Turtles on the beach every night and early morning, great snorkeling and just so beautiful. The unit is very nicely updated with everything you could need. Tons of beach toys for the kids. This location is so perfect on Oahu too because you are close enough to windward beaches and also very close to north shore beaches but not in the direct traffic and chaos of those areas.

Fantastic location!!! Very accurate with the great view and the opportunity to see turtles. Had enough bed space for 5 adults. Space was great for being able to travel with older adults as well. Yes the apartment could become warm when running the dryer during the day and the AC was not as strong as in the mainland. BUT they still work and we never were overheated. After all it’s a beautiful island where the sun was beautiful.

Great Sunrise View

Great location. We were able to get all over the island easily and the property allowed peace and quit when wanted. The construction on the property was not an issue at all. View of the ocean was fabulous. The condo was very comfortable and accommodating to our needs, with 5 people.

Just average. Expected more.

The unit had nice kitchen and nice TV. The views are breathtaking as in the pictures. Please note that the unit is cooled only by 2 small portable AC units, one in livingroom (which was inadequate) and one in bedroom (which could use a bigger unit). Now the bad stuff that did not meet our expectations: - The portable AC in the bedroom was broken when we arrived so it was too hot in the bedroom on our 1st night and did not get a good night's sleep. It was replaced the the next day with another small unit which helped a bit for the rest of our nights. - The AC in the living room had 2 issues. 1st, this small portable AC unit can't cool the entire unit except the bedroom. This needs to be replaced with a larger unit or add another unit by the laundry area. Bathroom area gets hot especially when door closed. 2nd, in our first 3 days, the AC vent was blowing hot air back into the unit since the exhaust hose couldn't be secured and sealed. With these issues, it mad the main unit areas hot and uncomfortable. - The folding bed in the living room was broken and we did not feel safe using it. It can't be folded back in either. - The sheets for the folding bed had crumbs and small stains. No big deal since we didn't use it but should've been cleaned. - Shower head was leaking so we had very little pressure on our first night. They fixed the next day. Pressure was better but still low for our taste. - Dryer vents into the unit so it gets hot inside when using it - Washer had mold issues

Enjoyed our stay

We recently stayed with our 4 children ages 5-12. Check in and check out were a breeze. Good location, close to so many things to see and do. We loved that it was quiet and right in front of a beautiful beach for swimming and going on walks. We loved how peaceful and not overcrowded it was. The construction didn’t ever bother us. The sand toys, boogie boards etc were so nice to have. Will leave some notes for host with recommendations of ammenities that would be helpful to include in the condo, but otherwise great!

Great place to relax and unwind out of the tourist chaos.

We had a great time during our stay. Enjoyed the sea breeze, the relatively quiet building (barely heard construction) and the dead beach. At most we could see 1-2 other ppl on the beach at any given time. We snorkelled with 15-20 sea turtles, spotted an eel, and even ran smack dab into a HUGE Manta Ray, all right in front of the condo. Walked down the beach in the evening and watched the turtles as they came onto the beach to bed down for the evening. All in all it was a great trip!

Great view!

The property exceeded expectations. The kitchen and linens were well-stocked. Bret, our host, was communicative and clear about expectations. He let us know several times in advance about the construction on site and made sure we were ok with it. The air conditioning kept us comfortable. The washer and dryer were very large capacity and easy to use. The only downside was that the bedroom window (glass shutter style) opens up towards the highway, so my kid had a hard time sleeping with the road noise.

Nice location

The area was nice and looked right over the ocean. There was construction however that was only for a few hours a day and never effected our stay. The condo was mostly clean however there was some dusting that needed to be done. The kitchen had everything we need to cook meals. We had five people and fit comfortably in the condo. The area is quiet and close to the PPC and BYU-H. We had to call for one minor thing and received an immediate response. We would stay here again.
