When we got to our room, I noticed a ladybug in the bed. Immediately I was reminded that ladybug is supposed to bring good luck and I was directed to set it free outside. By the time we finished disembarking, and getting comfortable I noticed a few more. I grabbed a cup and started collecting and setting them free. By the fifth trip, I noticed a stinkbug making his was to the light. That's when we decided to call the front desk and ask if this was common and what can they do about it? Maintenance couldn’t help and suggested switching rooms. The front desk reception gave us another room but we encountered another batch of asian ladyybugs and from the edge of the ceiling a larger beetle started making his presence known, this was a large black cockroach. I tried to disperse the bug but instead it managed to sneak into a cravice between the wood ceiling and the wall. By this time, we were too tired to leave, too dark and cold to find another hotel. I have lost track of how many I flushed, and still feel beaten. The asian ladybugs kept appearing and dancing on the wall while the roach and I kept a staring contest for rest of the night. Eventually, I lost the match and for consolation prize a ladybug kissed me in the cheek. Be warned..

Room was dirty from the second we got there. The fridge had the prior guests food still in it which included melted ice cream. The tables were covered in crumbs and dust. The floors were full of dust and under the beds you could see large chunks of dust mites as if it’s never been swept before. House keeping never came by so we had to throw out are own garbage and couldn’t get a hold of anyone to bring towels or tell me where to find a microwave to warm up my kids’ food. Never again.

Staff was very friendly, and the location was perfect for where we needed to go. And that’s all the nice things I can really say about this hotel that doesn’t even provide a comforter you’re sleeping under one sheet. The plumbing was not sufficient as when we ran in the shower, it would fill up like a bathtub and flood the floors. The water did get extremely hot to wear. I don’t think there was a cold temperature feature. Once we entered the lodge, we noticed a very strong smell of what smelled like Italian food as though I was staying at an Italian kitchen. The walls are thin, so you hear everything. No streaming services are provided just cable. We stayed one night and left the next morning.

Extremely long wait time to get to the check in process. Lots of paper work and then wait in line. The room was allocated in the 2nd floor. No elevator. We have been on long road trip with the last leg at Unicoi with lots of luggage. It was a pain to carry them the stairs. The room is too small for a family of 4 and the restroom has weird door. Overall, the stay was very below our expectations. Expedia must provide clear details as I trust and book a lot of hotels both in US and abroad and I’m more disappointed with Expedia than the Unicoi lodge.

We left the hotel at 10:30 pm. We checked out and drove the 3 hours home. We couldn't sleep, people were to loud in the hallway and outside. You could also smell weed in our room. We would like our money back, very disappointed. We won't recommend this place to anyone.

We had no heat! Two portable heaters were brought to our room but we had to carry them around with us. When you took a shower we had to carry one in the bathroom to stay warm.

Unfortunately, my stay did not meet even basic cleanliness standards. The towels provided were visibly dirty, there were stains on the bedding, and there was a noticeable ladybug infestation throughout the room. While I did not expect luxury accommodations, I did expect the bare minimum in cleanliness and comfort, which was not met—especially disappointing for a birthday stay.
