When we arrived at the property (after 8 PM) after traveling all day, the condo had not been cleaned. We had groceries and had unloaded the car before we realized, as we did not go past the entryway/kitchen. When I called the host, this of course "has never happened before." We hung up as she tried to get in touch with the cleaning company. She also offered to send us to a hotel, which we did not want. The cleaning company was able to come, and cleaned the place. This was all taken care of within a few hours. I understand mistakes happen. The next day, I did request a one night refund for our trouble, which she refused, and gave lots of reasons why. She then continued to give me details about the ring camera capturing all times that we arrived, the cleaning crew came, ect. It was pretty weird that she was trying to prove some sort of point on how "quickly" the place was cleaned AFTER we arrived. She also said "We didn't even make you leave the condo while the cleaning crew cleaned." Ummm, thanks?
I travel a couple times a year, and stay in new places. I use reviews to help me decide, so I hope this helps others in the future. I have never had an interaction with a host like this, and will be writing a complaint letter to VRBO as well.
The actual complex was decent, access to beach was about an 8 minute walk. We enjoyed the pools and turtles in the lagoon. I still love Hilton Head, but do not want others to ever experience this lady. Stay somewhere else!
